If you're a fan of DJ Supermarkt's 'Too Slow To Disco' series you'll want to to check for this new three-tracker from Ben Jamin immediately, because the Liverpool-based producer - who's racked up releases on the likes of Hot Gorilla, Discoholics Anonymous, Hot Digits and, yes, Too Slow To Disco - captures that mid-70s yacht rock and Quiet Storm soul vibe perfectly. The title track is a sleek, sophisticated slow jam with jazzy overtones - if you'd told this writer it was a long-lost Captain & Tenille cut, I'd have believed you! - while 'Destiny' treads a more straight-up disco path and 'I'm Dancing' drops down into a low-slung funk groove, but you'll have to pick your own standout here... all three are so good that picking a favourite seems a tad redundant!

This L.A. duo comprises of Simon “Woolfy” James and Dan Hastie and they’ve been releasing music since 2000 for a who’s who of contemporary disco/electronic labels: DFA, Rong, Future Classic and Permanent Vacation. Their latest album “Destinations” (on Permanent Vacation) is their fourth studio album. The pair are committed to a laudable task: making California into an outpost of the Balearic islands – endless summer, guaranteed! Their music combines the classic West Coast sound with a twist of dark disco and a twilight vibe. This exclusive track is something of a disco odyssey! Close your eyes and “Seeds” will recreate the warm glow of a Los Angeles sunset, backed by the distant rhythm of the Pacific. A deep, rolling Moog bassline drives the journey forward, steady and hypnotic like the open highway. Lush horns rise and fall like the city’s hills, while shimmering synthesizers paint neon streaks across the sky, capturing the euphoric feeling of returning home. Angus and Alex are the friends and bandmates behind Goodvibes Sound. Despite only starting to create music together in 2019 the two released their debut album “The Institute” in 2022 – a blend of upbeat discofied soul, indie doused in a heavy dose of psychedelic vibes. Time to take a trip back to the Windy City. A firm favourite song from Dave Lee’s highly acclaimed ‘Metamorphosis’ album under his AC Soul Symphony alias. This time we’ve pulled in some heavyweight remixes to refresh things up.

The main man Dave Lee has flipped it musically, but still with reference and reverence to Chicago with a deep jackin’ Chi-Town Tribute Mix, slapping a thick 303 front and centre. Up next is the Windy City legend himself, Glenn Underground, with his irresistibly cosmic take, drawing on his deep jazz-funk knowledge. Finishing up is a man we all know and love here at ZR, Opolopo, allowing the heart of the original to refract through his plethora of boogie-funk synth work & studio wizardry.
