The sixth instalment of the Reference Mark Mix Series. Past, present and future friends of the label are given the chance to reference the sounds that define them.

Sterlo first piqued our interest being involved with the Sheffield based garage night Rave New World back in 2018. Since then we’ve kept a close eye on everything he does, from productions to radio mixes. His sound is mercurial, flitting between footwork, broken beat and off-kilter bass, although there are certainly underlying themes of jazz and percussion. Sterlo explodes out of the blocks in this mix, starting at 160 bpm and effortlessly transitions to 120 bpm within 10 minutes. One tempo change wasn’t enough though, as he then finishes with a switch up to 100 bpm. This is truly a masterclass in how to transition between genres and styles.
