Yet another Leeds connection - Rianna - No H is next up on the mix series. Having only started mixing in January 2021, No H has quickly developed her own unique style of mixing and selection. Having her own bi-monthly show on Alto Radio has helped with this, enabling her to play fresh dubs from friends and spin rare Bandcamp finds. In these shows you’ll hear a blend of afro bass, downtempo trap/drill and UK garage. No H pulls from these influences to put together an excellently crafted hour-long mix; moving through funky house, UK garage and bass and ending up at fast paced electro and hardcore. We can’t wait to hear what else No H has for us in the coming years…

Burnski's Constant Black continues to be a platform for producers keen to explore a cosmic world of tech house and minimalism. There is certainly a spaced-out vibe to opener 'In The Knoe' from ADR, which is tough and punchy, with tight drums and crystalline lines all making for a funky vibe.

'Freedom' is a little deeper and more balmy for late-night intergalactic travel, then 'I Remember When' pumps the party with loopy bass and psychedelic swirls of colour. Dan Goul steps up on the flip with 'Method', which is a full-fat tech sound with warm synth smears and wiggling motifs that make your ass move, then 'Passing Thoughts' shuts down with a cruising groove and sense of astral adventure.

Hardcore is an important genre for the dance music scene, it has helped shape the scene into what it is today. Hardcore has inspired producers worldwide and hints of it can be heard throughout many other genres. It is carefully engineered to keep the atmosphere loving, warm and intimate whilst keeping the energy levels high with its crushing breaks and 4x4 sections that are sure to make you loose control of your limbs. It’s the perfect balance of lust and aggression.

Not only did it have an impact on the music scene, It also had an impact on society. It brought people together, broke down boundaries and tensions between groups. It also created a surge in creative energy. The creative energy was coming from hardcore raves. From the music, the visuals, the flyers, the graphic branding behind the rave groups, they didn’t have to conform to any design rules. They were free to do what they wanted, this energy was being injected into everyday life.

It is vital that we keep this beautiful genre alive and strong so that It can keep on giving. The ‘Hardcore will never die’ compilation from Corrupt Data is a free download and features 12 tracks from 12 producers. The compilation focuses on both new and old wave hardcore, some links more subtle than others. Its great to see how the genre has evolved, adapted and been interpreted by others. Each track is totally different and represents hardcore in its own way.

The release is a celebration of the genre and hopes to fuel, ignite or re-ignite passion for hardcore.

With the UK still locked down at the time of this release, the energy behind this release was music made for the home as much as the club, producing a small collection of effortlessly clean and dream tracks inspired by Grime, Footwork and Jungle, with dashings of Soul and RnB.
