We wanted to give everyone a sneak peak of the LPU XIII CD. Premiering "Primo [I'LL BE GONE - LONGFORM 2010 DEMO]", an early demo of LINKIN PARK's "I'LL BE GONE" off the studio album LIVING THINGS.

Although we opted for a different final direction for “I’LL
BE GONE,” I always loved this longer version of the song.
I think this is a good example of how a different structure
and arrangement can totally change the vibe of a song.

After 3 years I decided to re-record an old demo. It has a lot more structure now! Check it out! The old demo can be found on my YouTube channel.
First it was just an intro because i didn't have the equipment to do original full tracks. Now i was finally able to do it. This instrumental is designed to have lyrics as well as sounding great without.

Vicarious - Tool (Guitar Tone Test)

This is the instrumental track for the mash-up with the same name.  Sometimes the vocal might bury some of the more interesting things about a mash-up such as this.

These mash-ups are not as simple as taking Instrumental A and fitting Vocal B to it.  It's actually a lot of beatmatching separate stems and finding where their individual phrases line up.  Then to make sure they're in the same key (which actually is some hardcore nerdy music theory shit.  For example, A Place For My Head is in Eb Phrygian mode, while No More Sorrow is in Eb Harmonic Minor.

Also, the song switches from 4/4 to 12/8 at the climax, but the quarter note pulse stays the same.  I kept this mix at 133, which seemed like a good average of BPMs involved.  128, 135, 133, 135, 140.  I erred slower because that 128 is the main vocal from Darker Than Blood.  With vocals, you want to try and move it in time / key as little as possible from its original key.
