Toriel takes the role of Alphys. She's a little older than the Toriel we know, and it seems that in the years since Asriel was little she's gone a bit senile. Thankfully, Asriel has hired Noelle to be Toriel's live-in aide, so she'll always be safe. Neither Toriel nor Noelle is a scientist. The Dreemurrs are a very rich family, and Toriel is just living out her elder years in a tropical getaway home, hoping that every once in a while her family pays her a visit.

Deepertale is an AU that takes place in the aftermath of a nearly complete Genocide Run. Alphys has hidden all the survivors in the True Lab. Flowey was the only one who got in the human's way and lived to tell the tale (and that was by escaping within an inch of his life). The human has chosen not to erase the timeline yet, and walks the dusty Underground while down further below the monsters cower in fear. Flowey takes the role of Mettaton, and his "Hotland" is a massive machine that delves into his subconscious. Here, the "resort," is a peaceful garden. The eye of the storm. The one place of calm inside of Flowey's mad mind.
