As music in the digital age seems to be shifting back to a 60's era emphasis on singles over albums, those who clamor for a full-length installment of music from their favorite artists have found their thirst increasingly unquenched. Enter Leopard DaVinci & Louis 707, who are boldly filling this gap in modern funk music with their LP "Make The Party Great Again."

Living through an era of social distancing, event cancellations, and venue closures, making the party thrive as it once did is no small task, but this French synth-funk duo come across as extraordinarily energized to meet the challenge. It feels like every synthesizer sound ever conceived somehow lives within their arsenal, as a colorful blend of analog tones and back-cracking handclaps form the foundation for pure boogie bliss. From the album's inception, "Kinda Get Funky" sets the tone. It's clear that Leopard & Louis respect the original flight plan of the Mothership, though they draw more of their inspiration from subsequent sons of the "P" such as Zapp or 80's era Cameo. They remain uptempo throughout the entirety of the album, and even when they chill the mood slightly on songs like "Girl Oh Girl" & "I Get Up," it's only to spit a little slickness to the ladies before bumping the bpm's right back to where they were before. The album doesn't stray far from the usual topics of conversation in modern funk - Dancing, women, & funk itself. But such deviation isn't needed; if we're going to bring the party back we've got to stick to the script.

As always, Sleepers takes the time to package the music as thoroughly as it was created, this time in a full-color jacket on yellow vinyl. Limited to only 300 copies!

Girl Oh Girl

Nitram Zeus is back for his second release with Sleepers, and from the jump it's clear why he couldn't stay away for too long. This burgeoning modern funk producer is clearly full of dance floor fillers and is ready to share them. His latest singles, "Rock Wit' U" (feat. Mishell Ivon) & "Automatic" (feat. Drina J) follow very similar blueprints, and upon listening, it's clear why - the formula (and the funk) is on point; why change a good thing? Both songs are rooted in the synthesizer bounce of modern day boogie funk, twisted with moody pad/chords that also give these two tracks a more cosmic, late night appeal that may even touch some deep house heads. "Rock Wit' U" & "Automatic" are also arranged and written with a clear pop sensibility that could easily make both tracks into staples on dance floors, DJ streams, & the headphones of funk enthusiasts worldwide.

Both songs will be available in physical form, on pink 7" vinyl, limited to only 150 copies so get yours quickly!
