Reggae Roast come correct once again, this time joining forces with one of the UKs leading Dancehall Stars Gappy Ranks. 

My Selecta is the latest single from Reggae Roast’s forthcoming More Fire! LP which features world famous artists such as Horace Andy, Johnny Clarke, Mr WIlliamz & Soom T.

Gappy Ranks, a Dancehall Star in his own right has collaborated with UK legend Shy FX accumulating 10s of millions of streams. My Selecta is Gappy’s story of the influences that led to him becoming the sing-jay don he is today. Describing life as a kid growing up in West London the song depicts all the things that led Gappy on his musical journey.

The hard hitting riddim from Reggae Roast samples the classic Rocksteady track Midnight Hour by the Silvertones from Trojan Records. Revamping the riddim with modern production techniques, a heavier dancehall baseline and live Sax from UB40s sax player Adriano Rossetti Reggae Roast have create a classic sounding Reggae / Dancehall crossover track.

The world of Reggae and Caribbean-inspired music is vast and ever- progressing through the diverse singers and players across the corners of the earth. Following in this tradition comes the Soul Rebel Project, a top-professional Reggae/Rock band hailing from Boston MA, with their unique Pulsating Drum and Bass rhythms and heavily decorated melodies played by some of the top musicians in all of New England. Members of SRP as a collaborative have touched the stages of large festivals such as warped tour, as well as performed alongside multiple Grammy winners such as Sean Paul, Damian Marley and Toots and the Maytals. Led By the young veteran and Front man/songwriter, Mike Francis Jr. with his soulful vocals and energetic stage performances. ( Very Talented Vocalist with a style of his own....Matty Trump, Boston/LA Top Producer/Engineer) Jason Harris with his industry standard sounds and cutting edge Caribbean guitar playing, carry much of the melody. The Drum and Bass Section of Adam (Tugboat) Saylor and Geoff (Pilks) Pilkington uses their top-notch experience as hip hop artists/producers to bring a crossover appeal to the Rebel sound and provide the solid backbone of Soul Rebel Project.

The Soul Rebel Project began when singer/songwriter Mike Francis Jr, after having a very successful run playing hundreds of shows up and down the east coast with Artist Mile 21, parted ways with some of the original members of the group. A hiatus was taken to focus on writing and the beginnings of SRP were in the making. After writing close to two Albums, Francis took the idea to close friend Adam Saylor and he recruited members of 3 Vibe and Left Over Wine to complete the group. They immediately began work on the first album "East Coast Island" and from the first sound of the first rehearsal, a new Caribbean inspired vibe was created. Working hard playing all over New England as far as California and Texas, the Soul Rebel Project is having  success with singles like "King" and "Good Burn". Their Second Album "Higher Place" Debut at number 8 on the Billboard Reggae Charts. The band has grown a reputation for improvisational skill and ever changing live shows which helps them standout in a category of their own.  SRP continues to bring their conscious message, and heavy hitting vibes to well respected clubs all over New England and Beyond.

Jamaican born veteran singer Robert Dallas reworks Barrington Levy's classic early 80s Dancehall anthem 'Prison Oval Rock' in fine style! This updated and adapted version utilises producer Richie Phoe's 'Roll Like Lion' rhythm track which originally featured Josie Wales (also released on Roots Garden records back in 2013).
Richie Phoe works his dubwise magic on the flip side for 'Cell Block Dub', stripping the rhythm back to it's bare bones as he captures Robert in his echo chamber!

This release was originally recorded and cut as an exclusive Roots Garden records 'dubplate special' back in 2014 after Robert Dallas dropped these lyrics freestyle over the mic at a Roots Garden sound system session held in Brighton (on the south coast ofEngland)...the crowd went crazy calling for the DJ to rewind the tune several times! This track has proved so popular at subsequent Roots Garden sessions that we have finally decided to make it available to everyone.

Reggae Roast, one of the UKs leading Reggae Soundsystems & party starters, have forged a reputation as the leading light in the resurgence of the British Reggae, putting on some of the best parties and festival stages across the country. Having recently signed to the world famous Trojan Records they are at the forefront of the UK Reggae and Bass Music scene.

Reggae Roast’s first release on Trojan, went straight in at #1 on the Juno Reggae charts, while getting good radio support from the likes of David Rodigan (1 Xtra) and Ras Kwarme (Capitol Xtra) and Don Letts (6 Music), while their follow up single ‘Real Reggae Music’ featuring the legendary Tippa Irie, was included in the Trojan Records 50th Anniversary box set, selling thousands of copies. 

2019 will see them pick up were they left off with releases on Trojan Reloaded featuring  General Levy, Rankin Joe, Mr Williamz, Burro Banton, Charlie P and many more.

In 2015 Reggae Roast built their own custom Soundsystem pushing the boundaries of soundsystem aesthetics, taking soundsystem design into the 21st century. Their soundsystem remains the cornerstone of their events and with it they have run stages at prestigious festivals such as Glastonbury, Outlook Festival (Croatia), Secret Garden Party, Eastern Electric, Boomtown, Telerama Dub Festival (France) and many more. 

At their events they have hosted some of the biggest names in Reggae including  Horace Andy, The Wailers, Lee Scratch Perry, Sly and Robbie, Collie Budz, Mad Professor, David Rodigan, Suggs (Madness), Channel One, Trojan Sound, Gappy Ranks, Finley Quaye, Aba Shanti I, Mungo’s Hi Fi and many many more. 

Reggae Roast have built a strong fanbase over the years with nearly 200,000 social media followers. They have racked up over 8 million plays on Soundcloud alone and their monthly podcasts receives 10s of thousands of plays. They have played all over the world from India and Thailand to the UK and back. This year they were personally asked by Shy FX and Chase & Status to play at their events.

Reggae Roast are dedicated to bringing reggae and soundsystem culture to a new generation and are steadily building a formidable catalogue of releases and achievements.
