I know it's really late to be doing this, but it was just too cool to pass up and not share. Also, it's my first piece of actually symbolic art; it's easy to work within the framework of early vaporwave to illustrate some of the soulless aspects of capitalism in a very vivid way, albeit indirectly.

I wanted the feeling of the piece to be that of a vivid simulation (referenced in the machine-like title of the piece), since I intended this piece to be symbolic of the way in which memories and nostalgia can be merchandized, and how shocking and disenfranchising it should be that these sacred experiences – some of the very last things held sacred in our society – have been and can be prostituted out. This is somewhat predictive: the rise of vaporwave itself signifies that this capitalization will very soon be upon us, since nostalgia is the veritable lifeblood of the movement, and that movements rather large.
