Having gained support for his Do Without EP from the likes of Gorgon City, Skream, Hannah Wants, Toddla T, Zeds Dead and Tensnake, as well as showing Shambhala Music Festival a good time, summer is over and @jasonburns is back in the mix game. Após o sucesso de “Tombei” - que virou hit das pistas, ganhou clipe em parceria com o Kondzilla e rendeu um Prêmio Multishow de Nova Canção -, a rapper retorna com novas influências e sonoridades em mais um lançamento pela Skol Music.
“Com o novo single eu queria vir com um tema diferente do que eu já havia lançado. Foi um processo de criação interessante, nesse tema senti a necessidade de falar de algo mais sério, mas sem fugir do jeito Karol Conka de ser”, explica ela, que além da temática resolveu arriscar também na hora de escolher novos elementos sonoros.
“Escutei muito dancehall/reggae, rap atual e um pouco de house, de tudo um pouco pra me inspirar e compor, além de contar com os parceiros Duani e o Doncesão na composiçao e arranjo da letra . Esse single tem muito a ver com o que estamos vivendo hoje, o poder é o mundo de quem faz. Se você não correr atrás do que você quer, você não tem o mundo”, completa.
Assim como em “Tombei”, “É o Poder” repete a parceria de Karol com o Tropkillaz. “Gosto muito de trabalhar com eles, porque o Zegon e o Laudz  sempre me trazem várias opções de beats e isso abre possibilidades de explorar vários temas. Prefiro trabalhar em cima da batida, porque assim não fico dependendo do instrumental. Existem elementos dos beats que me trazem um certo sentimento, aí eu escrevo sobre isso. O legal da parceria também é que depois que eu mostro a letra pronta eles acabam transformando a batida de acordo com isso, é sempre uma surpresa”, afirma Karol.
O single “É o Poder” foi mixado e masterizado por Frank “El Medico” Rodriguez,que vem trabalhando constantemente com o Major Lazer,Diplo,Buraka Som Sistema e Tropkillaz,e  prenuncia a chegada do novo disco de Karol, que será lançado em 2016 pela Skol Music com direção artística de Zegon, do selo Buuum.

Lá pra 2014, o embaixador Mauro Telefunksoul lançou luz sobre um som que estava nascendo na Bahia, longe dos olhares do restante do país: o BAHIA BASS, que misturava o que havia de mais atual na música eletrônica com as influências locais, como a axé music, o afoxé, o samba-reggae, entre muitos outros.
De lá pra cá, o coletivo Bahia Bass já fez algum barulho lançando três compilações pelo selo Braza, do colaborador do THUMP Renato Martins, nome à frente do Funk na Caixa, (você pode ouvir aqui os volumes I, II e III) e nos mostrou que Salvador merece atenção e reconhecimento por ser casa de alguns dos sons mais legais dos últimos tempos.
Dessa vez, porém, o Bahia Bass traz uma mix de pouco mais de uma hora como um show case para o Carnaval de 2016, bem no dia de Iemanjá, o orixá feminino africano que representa a divindade dos mares. Na mix, exclusiva para o THUMP e curada pelo próprio Mauro, ouvimos umas boas pérolas da música baiana, algumas clássicas (como "Requebra", do Olodum, e "Ajayô", do Luiz Caldas) e outras mais novas (como "Melô do Vatapá", do Bemba Trio), alguns hits atuais e tracks dos artistas do catálogo do Bahia Bass. Tudo isso enquanto as batidas de bass comem soltas, do jeito que a gente gosta.

Nottingham lad Glacci returns to the label for a second outing, although followers may know him previously as Kyle Cook.

Taking cues from instrumental grime, his spin on the sound is enhanced with his clever use of bright and colourful synth lines throughout the E.P.

Varying in tempo from 128 up to 150 bpm, this one's a versatile number and we expect to be hearing the tracks creep into all manner of sets in the coming weeks leading up to a release late in February!

Its crazy to think its been over 11 years since the release of Resonance, my debut mix cd for former leading US drum & bass label Breakbeat Science. So much has changed within the world's EDM scene, from the demise of vinyl to CDs to the rise of virtual dj software and controllers to VSTs, sample packs, you tube, to countless new genres and subgenres, festivals, superstar DJs, and overall swells in popularity for dance music fueled by an interconnectivity that was only barely starting to form a generation ago. Some things about this have made dance music a never more exciting landscape, but in the same breath technology has practically rendered the art and skill aspects of actually DJing defunct as necessary prerequisites of being a touring DJ .
Yet it is that thrill of  creating a story, one that induces positive, shared neural-consciousness-lifting potential experiences out of a variety of people's music that has always excited me. It is something I hold dear to my heart, and I am so grateful to the universe for letting me live and see the world doing what I love, spreading joy to to others this way. My belief in the healing powers of mixing and dancing are what keep me involved in this upside-down night world to this day.
 
So when my friend and original Play Me co-founder Mark Subsonik asked me about doing a drum & bass mix for his Subsonik Sound Recordings podcast, I was delighted and inspired me to revisit the vibes and sound of Resonance with a range of today's  drum & bass music.  I've called it Resound is a continuation of that story. I hope you enjoy listening to it as much as I enjoyed making it!
