ENG: Reinier van Harten is a multimedia artist specialising in music and theatre, creating performances under the monicker REINDIER. The formation, led by Reinier, utilises a fluid band composition in order to maintain a broad variety of expression. His melancholic vocals, experimental instruments and confronting lyrics are timeless, yet modern. He chose the name for the project due to the inherent linguistic opposition it contains: REIN meaning pure, clean and virginal - and DIER, which translates to animal in his native Dutch language. REINDIER's fascinated by the tension between our animal nature and cultured mode of being. It is no surprise that the depths of his research, the broadness of his ideas, the variety of his personas and his ambition to create fully immersive worlds for his audience have drawn comparisons to the likes of Kate Bush, Björk, David Bowie and more. 

NL: De multidisciplinaire popartiest Reinier van Harten (Amsterdam) maakt onder de noemer REINDIER performances op het snijvlak van muziek, theater en technologie. Onder de artistieke leiding van Reinier is de groepsbezetting wisselend; per project wordt bekeken welke kunstdisciplines eraan te pas komen en welke performers daarbij passen. Op het podium dompelt REINDIER het publiek onder in melancholische vocalen, experimentele instrumenten, betoverende beelden en confronterende teksten, die zowel tijdloos als modern zijn. De contrasten in zijn werk uiten zich ook in de gekozen naam: 'REIN' betekent puur, schoon en maagdelijk, terwijl 'DIER' staat voor emotie, intuïtie en instinct. De gelaagdheid van zijn werk en zijn sprookjesachtige verschijning roepen vergelijkingen op met Kate Bush, Björk en David Bowie. Welkom in de wondere wereld van REINDIER.
