Berlin-based producer Lapien serves up an atmospheric three tracker on Radio Slave’s Rekids.

Also known as Metropolis or one half of Artefakt, Nick Lapien’s last three releases have landed on Finale Sessions, Fred P’s Soul People Music and DVS1’s Mistress Recordings.

Releasing on Rekids, the multifaceted Dutch artist’s next outing features three mesmerising cuts with the dusky ‘A Change Is Gonna Come’ initiating the package using infectious hats, subtle sub-bass and an indistinguishable vocal that ebbs subtly in and out of the mix.
‘As It Is’ is the most robust number on the package with its undulating percussion and moody chords taking centre stage, until ‘Vexed’ concludes everything with gloomy pads, shuffling hats
and echoing effects.

Foremost international techno outlet Drumcode is delighted to announce the release of its next full-length album, ‘Satellite’, by enduring Italian techno talent Sam Paganini.

Though he has been active since the mid nineties, recent years have been hugely successful for Sam, with searing techno EPs coming on revered labels such as Riche Hawtin’s Plus8, Sven Vath’s Cocoon and of course, Adam Beyer’s Drumcode. In his time he has been responsible for underground hits like ‘Zoe’, ‘Polyester’ and ‘Fire In My Arms’, all of which demonstrate his dynamic understanding of sexy, dark and hypnotic techno grooves and at the same time have earned him plenty of great Beatport chart positions as well as respect from the best in the game.

Incredibly, ‘Satellite’ is Sam’s first full-length album. Informed by his DJ gigs at legendary places like Berghain in Berlin and Cielo in New York, the album starts with a dystopian bit of sonic scene setting, as if a space ship is charging up ready to take off.

From there it’s a case of getting straight down to business. ‘Another Chance’ is a spacey bit of cantering techno and ‘White’ is rooted in devastating kick drums and is riddled with serrated synth lines that build lots of great techno pressure. ‘Down’ is an undulating bit of funky techno complete with choice vocal flourishes and tracks like ‘Lotus’ are prime offerings from the deeper end of the scale.

No two tracks sound the same on Satellite: Sam is always teasing out a new bit of texture, nailing a slightly different vibe or exploring different amounts of light and dark throughout the course of this most excellent album. This is evidenced by diverse cuts like ‘Dusty’, ‘Toxic’ and ‘Rave’.

Despite ‘Satellite’ being Sam’s debut album, it showcases his seductive style in all its glory across 12 fantastic tracks that will leave you begging for more.

Mr McKay is back on Drumcode with an EP that is very close to home, titled ‘Glasgow Safari’. Harvey has blended his synonymous synth stabs and vocal hooks together and has created another outstanding EP. The drums are fat and chunky as always and allow Harvey’s ideas to flow effortlessly over a solid foundation. The smooth use of dynamic throughout Harvey’s tracks also create impressive drops to add to another exceptional EP from Harvey.

Jel Ford returns to Drumcode after his highly anticipated remix of Alan Fitzpatrick’s ‘For An Endless Night’. Ford laces his three electrifying, new original tracks with a high energy that are guaranteed to get any dance floor rocking. Heavily featuring on Adam Beyer’s Drumcode radio both ‘Red Mist’ and ‘Overcast’ have gained heavy support from DJ’s and fans alike. ‘Ode To Basement’ is an end of night smasher that will make everyone melt into the ground as it is caressed out of the sound system.

"It's very direct, danceable club music, anchored stylistically between Electro, Techno and Industrial/NewWave, strongly influenced by '80s acts Liaisons Dangereuses, CH BB, sporadically, DAF and the Consumed /Concept period of Richie Hawtin." is how Hanno Leichtmann describes his new project Gesetz Der Oktaven. "The name 'Gesetz Der Oktaven' was chosen because I wanted something very German sounding, as we say 'sperrig', something technical, scientific. All the track titles are very old skool or obsolete studio/audio terms. "I wanted a completely new set-up, so I got a large Soundtracs desk from the 80s with 16 channels and, crucially 6 Aux Sends for effects." He continues, "The large number of aux sends was essential for the project. I used a drum machine, a MiniMoog sequenced by a TB 303, a vintage Drum Synth and six 6 effect combinations for the delay / reverb tracks. All very old-skool and in real time with no plugins. It took months of trial and error but the result is a very beautiful high-quality vintage studio sound."

Gesetz Der Oktaven - Verpolung - Third Ear Recordings

An intense introspection of sound deconstructionism and spacial dissonance presented in this 4 track (plus 2 lock grooves) EP entitled Nonharmonic Beautifault. 

The A Side is introduced with the track 'Blank Hand', a sludge fuelled walk into dusty audio bites and asthmatic rhythms, topped with screaming hoovers and TV static that at once builds up, collapses into beautiful cacophony. Leading us into the 'Body Molecule' - A rushing pad and sparkling percussion pinned to a rolling kick pattern that drives this track toward a central point of attacking synths and swarming soundscape. The run out locked groove features a deep distorted kick that loops into infinity. 

The other side starts with 'Angular Beautifault'. Acidic Rhythms and Buzz Saw Synths all washed together into a shimmering reverberated cavern that explodes with high powered clap patterns and bubbling 303 lines. Following this we have 'The Burin' - an uncompromising, high paced assault of power kicks and slanted percussion. Incessantly driving and unyielding towards the final lock groove of distorted sub loop. 

Nonharmonic Beautifault represents a shift in Positive Centre's work that aims beyond the delicate ambience into harder and darker sound territories. 

Nonharmonic Beautifault EP will be released on 12" vinyl and digital on February 19.

Dave The Drummer Beltane 2016 2 Hour Mix

Here's my set from the Symmetry Festival this weekend. I decided to stay and camp out there and I met loads of great people. I actually stayed in a Yurt on site and loved every minute! The promoters and stage staff were great (Thank you Clockwork from me and Bianca!) as were the crowd! Mad thanks to everyone who was so nice - really hope to come back again next year. Keep it techno!

Hailing form Thessaloniki in Greece, Tennan (@tennanmusic) is a talented newcomer to the world of house and techno with an infectious enthusiasm and dedication to sound quality. Having previously been involved in other music genres and music bands from an early age he eventually moved into the realm of production, relocating to the UK to study at Leeds Metropolitan University where he honed his skills in the infamous Northern party city.

“Music has always been my biggest passion in life and being given the opportunity to record an EP for one of my favourite labels, VIVa MUSiC has been a true blessing. My life literally revolves around the studio and I've always been fixated with analog gear which I've broadly used for the creation of this EP. Tennan has began this year in a dramatic way announcing a solo stance with impending releases on 20/20 Vision, Sanity, and of course VIVa LIMITED. With early support for his music being espoused by the likes of Steve Lawler, Detlef, and Cuartero to name a few, Tennan is sure to be a name you will see come to prominence over the next few years.

Fellow Thessalonian and Mobilee man And.Id rounds off the release with his interpretation of Stabbit, completing the package with a freaky and hypnotic reimagining of the original.

Michael Mayer's new album '&' sees him collaborate with some of the planet's leading musicians and of course a whole lot of friends. The 12 track LP features tracks with Roman Flügel, Agoria, Kölsch​, Miss Kittin and Barnt. His collaboration with Barnt is a trippy, majestic number that's drenched in voodoo tones and there's now a remix package to accompany the track.

Patrice Baumel has put his own spin on 'Und Da Stehen Fremde Menschen​' but here we concentrate on UK favourite, Kowton's edit. As expected the Livity Sound don has stripped everything back and turned the suspense into structure, with steely tones and a demonic 4/4 running through its core.

Anton Pieete is known for his classic, textured take on House & Techno. The Dutchman has spent recent years exploring the reaches of his analogue set up, releasing a string of hugely popular EPs for Joris Voorns Rejected imprint. Now he turns over his latest wares to Ovum, with another impressive offering in the shape of TheMenu.

While it may be our starter; first dish Peven is definitely more of a main course. Heady and intoxicating with itspercussive, funky drums and undulating keys, its carries us on its woozy wave of rich analogue bass.

Our appetite is further satisfied by the deeper sophisticated tones of Lite Green. Its malleable, swinging groove is governed by its pulsating bassline and dense kick-drum as lazer synths sweep and claps fire on thisclassy cosmic jam.

BN300s dramatic and ghostly strings are at odds with its frenetic bouncing bass melody and yet together theywork in complete harmony to create our final musical indulgence from The Menu.
