Danny Howells arrives on Radio Slave’s Rekids for the first time with the three-track ‘Throb’ EP, landing 16th May 2025. Howells, a quietly revered figure in house music since the mid ‘90s, delves deep across the ‘Throb’ EP, which celebrates subtle drum programming, otherworldly keys, and soundscapes throughout. The cossetting warmth of ‘Throb,’ a track which tips the smallest of nods to Danny’s role in the heyday of progressive house, was born out of a late-night studio session—long forgotten about and then rediscovered, re-appraised, as so many great tracks are.

‘Thrunk,’ another supremely heady cut, follows and sees keys slide around the mix, modulated and tweaked just enough to create a constant feeling of movement without losing balance, firmly rooted by a bassline that Howells, contrary to his usual practice, wrote first. Rounding things out on ‘Throb’ is ‘Threads,’ a track born out of a Fred P listening session and one that enlists London’s Elliot Herrington on keys. It’s an epic ode to classic Deep House, delivered in 2025 widescreen technicolour.

Danny Howells is a darling of British dance music. Emerging in the late 1990s with the likes of the era-defining Jackpot Records, his journey in dance music has always been about music, which has seen him eschew frantic touring and production schedules in favour of doing what he loves. Famous, for those in the know, as Cassy’s favourite DJ, Howell’s deft touch and subtlety as a DJ and Producer are evident in spades on ‘Throb.’

It's fair to say that in the hotly contested field of country tinged, equine themed
underground club music this year has been all about Kate Stein & Lord Fascinator's Horse House. With its galloping hypnotic house beat, pulsating synths and lonesome guitar twangs, it was always a clear favourite but even as clubs around the world are still echoing to frenzied chants of "there's a horse in this house", Eskimo Recordings have introduced some competition with 3 new remixes courtesy of Fabrizio Mammarella, Hammer and Captain E.

Leading the chasing pack is Italian DJ, producer and label boss Fabrizio Mammarella. With over two decades of releases under his belt on labels such as DFA, Permanent Vacation and his own Slow Motion Records, Fabrizio has solid form and saddles up to take us on the last horse to Trancentral, delivering a stunning remix that sees the track's vocal refrain canter over killer club beats and a mesmerising synth riff.

This is certainly no one horse rave though and coming up close on the insid
e is Belfast producer Hammer whose sabre sharp remix thunders along with a looping acid bass line and echoing percussion before it all dissolves into a blissful wash of warm pads evoking the wide open starry skies of Texas (or perhaps County Down) before the beat comes crashing back in to carry us over the line.

Finally bringing up the rear but with the bit between his teeth is Eskimo Recordings' own Captain E whose remix cracks the whip, upping the tempo and pairing its warehouse ready beats with rave stabs, a frisky bass line and just the occasional horse snort for good
measure.

Biography
Having cut her teeth in the art world working in spatial design Kate Stein made her musical debut in 2021, her hypnotic take on house quickly seeing her make appearances on labels sick as Roam Recordings, Playground Records, TAU and Rotten City.
Lord Fascinator meanwhile began his musical career as the frontman for Australian rock band Children Collide. Since relocating to NY and moving behind the decks he's DJ'd and performed all over the world sharing stages with the likes of The Avalanches and Tame Impala, been remixed by Prins Thomas, collaborated with Simple Symmetry, scored Hollywood films and produced immersive dining experiences in Mexico.
