French Techno producer Klint drops ‘Arsenic EP’ on Radio Slave’s Rekids Special Projects.

Montpellier-based artist Klint recently appeared on Rekids Special Projects as part of the label’s ‘Actualize’ compilation and has previously contributed his fierce Techno to the likes of Truncate and Modulars following his 2021 debut on Planet Rhythm. Returning to Radio Slave’s imprint with a full EP of his rhythmic, driving techno, the artist delivers four outstanding cuts that land on the label this March.

Leading the release, ‘Arsenic’ sees springy chords and powerful drums ricocheting around a metallic soundscape. ‘Klapper’ follows, bringing twisted leads, vocal stabs, and wonky FX for a trippy techno track. On ‘Record The Discord’, Klint reaches for broken kicks and bubbling synths that lead into a twisted breakdown before the emotive ‘Tulipa’ closes proceedings with twinkling arpeggios and rattling percussion.

Japanese Techno Veteran Ken Ishii & Dutch duo Kamara join forces for ‘Powerplay’ on Rekids Special Projects.

Active for well over two decades, Techno icon Ken Ishii has chalked up a commendable discography, consistently pushing the genre forward. Teaming up with Dutch duo Kamara for the latest offering on Radio Slave’s Rekids Special Projects imprint, the trio deliver two fierce techno offerings, combining their individual skills and styles into a formiddable pair of tracks. 

"The Kamara guys contacted me one day saying they were curious about collaborating with me. I love their releases on Tronic etc and I instantly thought it would be interesting. The title track of Harvey McKay’s ‘DV8’ EP on Rekids Special Projects starts with driving, shuffling drums shot through with jazz-inflected chord stabs. It’s techno with an authentic soul feel yet perfectly suited to work the dancefloor and sets the tone for the rest of the tracks.

Up next, ‘Footstep’ sees the Scottish McKay fuse an evocative vocal with organ riffs and more powerful and raw drum work before ‘Rasta Woman’, where the Soma, Cocoon, UNCAGE, and Bedrock artist once again pushes his drum machines by blending hard-hitting rhythms with earworm vocal snippets, closing out a club-ready release brimming with attitude.

Part two of Oliver Dollar’s ‘Contemporary’ EP will be released this July via Rekids. It follows part one, released in April of this year, which saw him team up with ADMN, Austin Ato, and APROPOS and featured a remix from Brian Kage. With the first part winning support from the likes of Laurent Garnier, Nightmares On Wax, and Dam Swindle, this next EP continues with an equally promising cast behind the wheel, as Dollar brings in Brillstein and Harvard Bass for more irresistible house funk across three tracks in part two.

First up on the ‘Contemporary Part Two’ EP, Jesse Rose, Diplo and Switch collaborator Brillstein joins Oliver Dollar for ‘Pill Popper’, a real dancefloor-igniting underground cut with an unforgettable hushed vocal over infectious rhythms. It is followed by Oliver Dollar and Harvard Bass’ ‘Funky Brewster’, which sees the Tuskegee, Relief Records, and Turbo artist complement Oliver’s house style with signature jackin’ flair. A repeating vocal and hard-hitting drum beat keep centre in this party anthem before Dollar flies solo for ‘Funked Up’, in which a low-slung groove and dreamy, chopped-up vocal work in harmony before breaking down into a jazz-inflected midsection, making for the perfect outro to a fantastic two-part series on Radio Slave’s Rekids.

The British duo Wayward have enjoyed a compelling 2018 establishing themselves as respected producers with a trio of celebrated EP’s including their 12” debuts on both Fort Romeau’s Cin Cin Records and Australian based label Beats Of No Nation. The sounds released from these efforts have shown that it's quite hard to place these talented lads in any particular genre; having come out with a variety of music ranging from pure, unadulterated disco to futuristic, afro-tinged techno. If you have not been impressed with their range so far, you'd be hard-pressed not to after listening to their forthcoming record.

To start off the year, the duo have joined forces once again with Rob da Bank's Silver Bear Recordings to come out with four-track EP that features two brand-new originals from Wayward themselves and a couple of remixes from it-boy Earth Trax and Glasgow legend Nightwave. The name of the release is titled “Raval” and we are fortunate enough to be sharing its title track. Staying true to their versatile nature, Wayward have elected to go into a completely different direction on this one.

From beginning to end, Raval is a tune that's rooted in acid-house and instantly grabs your attention with its energetic bassline and bombastic percussion. However, these hard-hitting elements are complemented by a melodic assortment of distorted keys and airy vocals that give listeners an opportunity to catch their breath in between gripping moments of being compelled to dance and let go.
