Welcome to the release number 19 of Cicuta Netlabel. We live in an unjust world by nature, where are prevailing values that have nothing to do with art. The music scene is a clear example of this. We are saturated with marketing products, while real artists from your own room at home, are creating real wonders that deserve to be appreciated by the general public.

From our point of view, the artist who signed the reference of this month is one of those artists, one of those underrated by the scene who fights and make real wonders. This artist is Bran Lanen.

In this reference, shows his most hypnotic and experimental face, under his aka Lifeblood. He offers 6 cuts ranging from techno to ambient, with a sound reminiscent of the best times of Jeff Mills. A sound that is catching and wrapping you up to take you to a state of altered consciousness.

It is not the first (and sure it’s not the last) time we bet on this artist, so if you want to hear more of his works, take a tour by our catalog, you will find real gems. Across the 3 distinctive sections - ‘Low’, ‘Mid’, ‘High’- ‘Frequencies’ provides a snapshot of a perfect Bedrock party, in the form of yet another musical masterclass from the Bedrock boss as he takes the listener on an unrivalled, evolving journey from start to finish.
The album features spectacular exclusives from Emerson, Digweed & Muir’s collaborative project, the legendary Robert Babicz, and supremely talented label regulars Guy J, Stelios Vassiloudis and BOg. But, as with all the best compilations, it’s also about featuring amazing music and giving a platform to up and coming artists, reaching across continents to fully represent the truly global nature of today’s thriving scene. There’s a delicious label debut from rising Indonesian artist Lily Pita; Thailand's most prominent underground techno DJ, Nakadia, teams up with the mischievous dark prince, Lee Van Dowski; a sublime cultural fusion of western electronics and eastern melodic sensibility from Brooklyn-based Israeli Etai Tarazi. ‘Frequencies’ welcomes the respected Pacha resident DJ Alex Kennon, whose genre-bending creativity sits perfectly here; there’s two melodic masterpieces from Italian duo Fideles; rising star Lehar, from Diynamic’s impeccable roster, is on remix duty; there’s the super-intricate swing of Joris Biesmans. Bournemouth-based Lee Williams makes his Bedrock debut; whilst hotly-tipped French duo Tim Baresko & Clyde P channel the spiritual vibe of a nascent 1987 Chicago house scene with their cleverly acidic ‘Throwback’. Most South Africans know Diamond Dealer as the DJ from Bloemfontein, where he started his career, playing deep African house music in the heart of the townships. His stunning Bedrock debut, the bass-heavy, rhythmically infectious ‘Little Hungry Monster’, and his hugely impressive acidic interpretation of Emerson, Digweed & Muir’s ‘Tracer’, will undoubtedly turn heads worldwide.

Toronto’s classically trained Glenn Morrison, Tokyo’s richly imaginative Satoshi Fumi, and Germany’s brotherly duo Monkey Safari, all make highly impressive returns to the label. But, interestingly, it’s the strength of the numerous collaborative studio partnerships that is perhaps even more revealing. There’s an incredible Latino Detroit fusion of styles from Vancouver-based Andromo, who joins forces with much respected USA scene stalwart Chris Fortier. ‘This Just Then’ marks this duo out as a future creative force to be reckoned with. The excellent production tag teams keep on coming: Austria’s Philipp Straub joins forces with Sweden’s Charlie Thostenson; Germany’s collaborative kingpin, Nils Nuernberg, teams up with Stelios Vassiloudis; Germany’s multitasking maestro Martin Eyerer with fellow countryman and techno-meister Patrick Chardronnet; then there’s BOg and Cologne’s Tim Engelhardt. Yet another bright new star on the techno horizon is Holland’s Rob Hes, who joins up with the up-and-coming LAAT to raise the techno temperature on CD3 to new heights with their intense ‘Perseverance’.

Drumcode returns with its 6th installment of the internationally celebrated A-Sides series. Renowned for fostering a shared space between industry tastemakers and rising talent alike, the careful curation that goes into each volume is a fine example of why Beyer’s brand continues to go from strength to strength.

Techno titan Adam Beyer has grown Drumcode into a force to be reckoned with; the label has become synonymous with forward-thinking, functional techno and even after 20 years, Drumcode continues to find new boundaries to push, and ways to solidify its legacy as the world’s number one techno label. 

2017 is no exception, with Beyer’s imprint hosting it’s first stage at Tomorrowland, not to mention the expansion of the critically acclaimed Junction 2 where the Drumcode stage is the centrepiece and Adam plays the key role of festival director. The Drumcode phenomenon continues to grow each week, chiefly fuelled by Drumcode Radio, Adam’s radio show that’s broadcast in 57 countries via 86 stations and to a global audience of 16 million techno fans per week. 

The A-Sides series acts as a perfect vignette of Drumcode’s cutting-edge sound; functional yet inspired techno, all tracks tried and tested by Beyer himself. Vol. 6 continues this tradition with a collection of 16 multi-faceted cuts from a mixture of both emerging artists and experienced label friends. 

The heart-throbbing bass in Amelie Lens’ electrifying piece ‘In Silence’ sets the tone for the dark and dance-floor-ready energy that Vol.6 carries the whole way through. Other standouts include Mars Bill’s rough’n’ready ‘Mohave’. Pulsating and precise, ‘Mohave’ has highlighted many of Beyer’s sets recently as has Wehbba’s monster track ‘Fake’, which fans have been anticipating the release of all year. 

Label-favourites Dense & Pika also feature on ‘A-Sides’ Vol. 6 with their hard-hitting ‘Just a Beat’ and a huge track from Beyer himself who has joined forces with Enrico Sangiuliano to bring us their undeniably infectious ‘Preset Heaven’. 

With many more notable selections from the likes of Julian Jewell, Timmo, Tiger Stripes and Pig&Dan, A-Sides Vol. 6 is another impressive addition to the label’s prolific release roster and a testament to why Drumcode remains at the forefront of the electronic world.

Better Listen Records is a label that needs no introduction, straight out of Washington DC, BLR has put out some breath-taking music from some of the biggest names in house and disco with Cody Currie, Ethyène and Ari Bald to name a few. With a motto to “press remarkable grooves” they certainly exceed this with each and every release, and have come a long way since establishing in 2016 no thanks to some great work from Martín Miguel.

BLRVA001 is next up on releases for Better Listen with the First Class a varied artist EP with quite possibly four of the most talented artists in the game; Folamour, Ethyène, Ari Bald and Dorsi Plantar. The first track comes from the magical and magnificent Folamour with ‘Oneness’ a beautiful piece of art in which we have the pleasure to premiere for you today. The most consistent artist in his field Folamour never fails to amaze with his music which to quote his label is, ‘’For Heaven Use Only’’. There aren’t enough superlatives to describe how good the Frenchman actually is and this track follows suit. Sweet guitars, addictive piano melodies and jazz-infused goodness with this one, things Folamour is well-known for. A true feel good banger that will have you singing along and dancing all day and all night. Let’s face it Better Listen and Folamour was always going to end well and we cannot wait to grab a copy of this 12”. Out on april 20th via Juno!

few days ago, something special happened at the end of a show in France where I was playing b2b with mamene S3A.
the sound engineer, waited for the place to be empty and just played this beautiful track for the staff and the artists packing their stuff and it had a really strong effect on me. something beautiful, out of time, lost in a little snowy village, this song I know since I was a kid sounded different and affected me.
the funniest part of the story is that S3A did a France Gall edit few weeks ago to pay his tribute to this wonderful and talented artist, thanks to him for opening the road.
here it is, only three days after the show cause it feels linked to that moment for ever to me.

Jonah Sharp & DJ Spun pair up as The Loose Control Band to drop a punk-inspired single on Rekids with remixes from label founder Radio Slave and SHUT boss Ryan James Ford. 

Having released a large body of work as Spacetime Continuum (Astralwerks) or alongside David Moufang as Reagenz (Workshop), not to mention significant collaborations with the likes of Terence Mckenna, Haruomi Hosono and Bill Laswell, Jonah Sharp is unquestionably a highly respected producer. His seminal label Reflective played an important role in the experimental ambient and techno scene during the ‘90s, whilst as a remixer he’s worked with music by Nine Inch Nails, Meat Beat Manifesto and Matthew Herbert. 

Meanwhile, Jason Drummond has long been a commanding force within New York’s electronic music scene, such as running his prestigious Warm Up Music series or his All Night Rong parties with regulars like DJ Harvey. He’s also been DJing and producing as DJ Spun for two decades, appearing on Golf Channel Recordings as well as his own illustrious imprint Rong Music, which used to release music collaboratively with DFA. 

‘I Don’t Understand’ sees a raw and uncompromising side to both artists as they layer a cacophony of murky bass, twisted melodies and mind-bending bleeps whilst Drummond’s turbulent vocals bellow throughout the mix. Staying faithful to the original, Radio Slave’s remix incorporates a heady rhythm with its rolling beat as screeching effects join a moody baseline. 

Moving into techno territory, Ryan James Ford’s ‘Akihabara’ remix features rattling percussion and crystalline synths whilst his ‘Hope’ remix is built on an intricate drum sequence as soaring pads and echoing keys contrast with the original’s piercing vocal.
