Premiere: Om Unit & Soreab - Last Breath

Beatrice M.'s Bait invites Trois-Quarts Taxi System back into the fold for both the artist’s and label’s debut album release, ‘Plexus’. Leaning into innovative 140 mutations, Trois-Quarts Taxi System dedicates his first long-format release to exploring the depth of this space and stepping away from his usual 170/80 sound. A deep meditative journey of introspection.

Taking the name ‘Plexus’ from a key he found in the street, the album is split into various parts with the heart of album comprised of three parts of ‘Plexus’ - drone-like soundscapes which retrace different states using a variety of acoustic and electronic sounds combined with samples from an anonymous cassette found in the street. This hybridisation of sound is often influenced by ideas Trois-Quarts Taxi System comes across whilst working on his live shows; an artistic practice that is very important to his output. On this occasion, Trois-Quarts Taxi System has used this extended period to explore the bridge between dubstep, techno and experimental, pieced together with quiet ambient moments.

Polish underground artist Entire (Filip Olszewski) returns with Bad Trip Synesthesias - a raw, immersive, and hallucinatory descent into the shadowy edges of experimental electronics. Structured as a symbolic journey through the disorienting topography of a psychedelic experience.

From its opening moments, "Bad Trip Synesthesias" confronts the listener with a storm of industrial textures, mind-drilling rhythms and deep subterranean pulses. It's not just dark - it's tunneling: a mantric, sub-bass-heavy hypnosis that drags you inward. There are elements of experimental DnB, distorted ritualism, and sci-fi dread, but this isn’t a genre exercise - it’s a controlled implosion of form. A turning point comes with "Surrender, Fears", the last chapter before a cathartic release, requiring acceptance within the chaos and offering a glimpse of emotional transcendence. What follows is not resolution, but transformation: a broadening of perspective and finally, a return to reality in the closing track, "Re-entrance", which radiates an unexpectedly organic warmth.

There’s a distant echo of Eastern European futurism here - a kind of dream-logic that brushes against the surreal and the philosophical without ever fully revealing its hand. Entire shapes sound into something like speculative fiction: abstract yet visceral, alien yet deeply internal.

Most of the presented work have been composed while experiencing synesthetic effects, including strong sound-to-shape & sound-to-color associations.

After 15 years in the game, with over 60+ vinyl records pressed, including several "001s", I am very excited to finally be launching my own thing (better late than never hey).

001 - Pugilist - Monument

The concept for Ruff Kutz as an idea came about last year after doing the 3 releases exclusive to Bandcamp as an outlet for my own productions that didn't get picked up by labels. Lots of people messaged me about vinyl. including a big push from dear friend and musical luminary Stormn Norm aka Mr Modern Hypnosis. He put me in touch with Sequence Distribution and they have been amazing to work with - helping me get this off the ground quickly!

The label will be the main outlet for most of my productions going forward - focussing on quality over quantity and with no set rules for a particular sound or tempo: expect the unexpected! The first release encompasses what I think is my sound, and is a nod to my musical past whilst aiming to remain fresh and create timeless music.

Techno influence has always been something I have tried to incorporate into my productions, but I have never released a full Techno track - until now! The A side track 'Monument' is a rolling piece of soulful machine music, made to induce euphoria on the dancefloor with its 10 min run time, Dubby chords, groovy Latin percussion and melancholic pads. Homage to a lot of the 90s and early noughties Techno sounds that I am so fond of!

I couldn't think of doing the first release on the label without at least 1 Dubstep track on it, and given it's the genre I cut my teeth in - I did 2 inna pug-step style. Deep and dubbed out. B1 'Mannequin' is an introspective half-stepper with a laid back, techy feel to it. The staccato sub bass keeps the track grooving under the delicate chords and is sure to get the scoops moving!

On the B2 we have 'Run It' a hazy 2-step style tune (so hot right now) with forward thinking production, an off kilter groove, hypnotic bass and a few classy wubs thrown in for good measure. Think Horsepower Productions meets Livity Sound. Stinky!

The latest transmission on Samurai tunes into half-time intensity with a psychedelic edge courtesy of leading French practitioner Vardae. Applying techno hypnotism and cinematic atmospheres to his snaking beat constructions, the Lyon-based artist delivers a pitch-perfect exercise in mystical meditation that follows a natural path from the Ancestral Voices LP.

Since first emerging around 2017, Vardae has been determined to establish a sound unbound by genre restrictions. To date he's successfully moved between cult labels such as Non Series and Ooda while pivoting from linear 4/4 to crooked broken beat without disrupting his immersive, finely sculpted production style.

Alongside his releases, Vardae is also responsible for the ouroboros festival that takes place every year in central France. Last summer, after the dancefloor closed on the final night of the the event, fabled Dutch transcendental ambient group Son Of Chi made an acoustic concert around the campfire that cast a spell over everyone present. This experience formed the inspirational basis for Vardae's new EP, drawing on the instinctive power of insistent rhythm and the spiritual intrigue that lies behind subtly dissonant tones — shadows cast by refined, restrained synthesis flickering in the imagined light of the flames.

From the rattle of timbale on 'The Light Motion' to the laser-focused ripples that charge through 'Voices Of Dispossession', Vardae bends and shapes his drum work with exacting intention across this EP. Treading the line between 85 and 170BPM, he approaches fierce peaks in his tracks with an exacting patience, building to the arp-soaked climax of 'Flaming As A Cloud' and its ecstatic, melodic crescendo.

Proudly individual and drawing from the deepest of musical experiences, Vardae's latest statement promises similarly profound moments when these pieces come into contact with the right souls and the right sound in the right setting.

Bass music alchimist RAVL delivers 4 intense tracks for his premiere EP on Blue Night Jungle. Both tribal and electric, Vestiges easily blends up dark atmospheres with brilliant pads and synths, combining forces to create a powerful near DnB style with a hard sense of groove. He also invites the Welsh master producer Aloka for an hybridstep track that will clearly shake all the dancefloors it will be put on.

It all began with “Have Sword, Will Travel“, an EP that started the „armed“ journey with its many different ups and downs. But the label is still here and celebrates its 10th anniversary today. Besides being pretty emotional about the fact that this journey is still continuing after so many years, I’m also looking back at an intense period of time full of doubts, disappointments and mistakes. Especially social media leads us to believe that every life is so exciting, spectacular and unique and that you are doing something wrong compared to all of this glamorous self-promotion. If you really start comparing to these blissful images, things feel miserable very fast. But instead, the healthiest things are to just be yourself, to follow your vision no matter how slow and complicated things evolve and to avoid doing things that feel wrong and factitious. And because of that, everything is right where it should be for Shaw Cuts and it’s still so much fun and exciting to run this project. I’m trying my best to keep things going and to keep things fresh & exciting - hopefully for another decade.
Thank you all for the genuine appreciation and support of all the music that got released over the past 10 years, for having an open mind for all the different projects and for helping the label to grow and develop a certain brand recognition and identity.
