Thunderstorm Sounds by the Lake House for Sleep, Chill Out, Relaxation or Study

Night shift on the bridge. The captain and flag officers have all retired to their quarters, so it's just us ensigns holding down the fort. I lean back and listen to the sound of the engines humming along at a leisurely Warp 6. I hear the familiar boop, boop of the com officer in the corner as she practices writing an obscure dialect of Klingon to pass the time. The engineer checks the warp coil alignment for the third time tonight. And then there's that soothing warble… what is that warble? I've always wondered what made that sound. Never-the-less, it is peaceful here with absolutely no chance of alien attack or holodeck malfunction in the foreseeable future.

I make a subtle course correction before relaxing into a calm night of deep space travel: Engage!

StarTrek TNG Bridge Sounds for Sleep or Studying (75 Minutes)

Alright, I cashed in all those frequent flyer miles and got a first class ticket aboard the U.N.S. Morpheus, a colossal colony ship. After my first night's lobster and champagne dinner, I'm tucking myself into the swanky stasis dream pod. Time to zonk out for 270 years, give or take a decade. I listen to the gentle rumble of the EMB Drive warming up and prepare for some epic slumber.

Quasars for Breakfast (75 Minutes)

For all you white noise connoisseurs out there, this is technically brown noise. That means that the higher frequencies have been tapered off so the sound is more pleasing. You'll find it similar to Celestial White Noise, but it has a different tone which some of you may like better. It all depends on the person as to what they like best, but this gives you another option to help you sleep. Thanks for trying it out!

Interstellar Voyage (75 Minutes)

Monday, 25th June, 2012. 

A thunder storm was predicted, so I set up my Telinga SSM and Olympus LS-100 recorder just inside a screened door. I set the recording level low, but even so the nearest lightning strikes (about 100 feet away) completely overwhelmed the system.

The recording begins while the storm is still about ten minutes away....

There are several phases - first, there is distant thunder as the wind begins to strengthen. Then the thunder gets nearer and the rain begins. Next, the storm literally moves overhead, with several strikes within a few hundred feet of the house.

This is followed by hail, and then more wind and rain, as the storm slowly recedes to the east.
