Who I Am

Well am I excited to say this is episode 30 of the podcast, and joining me are Jesse Read and Ben Gibson - the creators and curators of the online Canadian music publication Dropout Entertainment. The reason these guys are special - aside from doing great things for the Canadian music community, is they’re the reason the release day series started in the first place!

What I love the most about Dropout is their focus on truly independent musicians, artists you’ve likely never heard before but are deserved of the spotlight and recognition. Jesse and Ben open up about the creation of the publication, their mission to highlight undiscovered talent, and the great additions to their platform to continually elevate and broadcast Canadian music through their SOCAN certified online radio station and podcast.

While Dropout Entertainment has been reaching hundreds of thousands of readers and listeners online - they’ve also gone beyond the digital platform, creating Canada’s first Independent Music Video Awards show - now 3 years running - and held their very first music festival in 2021, hosted by Canadian music icon Ed the Sock.
