Continuing to add new talent to their roster, Onestar Records welcomes PIMI to the label for his debut EP. Hailing from Colombia, Juan Carlos Ortiz Pimienta aka PIMI is already an established DJ in his home country. A regular at some of Medellin's premiere venues such as Viuz, PIMI has won over the city's crowds with his unique selections and exquisite programming skills. Also working on the art of music production, PIMI now embarks on his first steps as an electronic artist, as he makes his Onestar debut with a three-track showcase entitled 'Mantra'.

The title selection 'Mantra' sets the tone with a pacey pulsating, hypno-groove and driving percussive arrangements. Tough and trippy in equal measure, PIMI builds drama across the first act with deconstructed sonics, cosmic arps and a mountainous groove which forges a path into the main break. Percolating arps take centrestage across the interlude, nicely interwoven with the devilish effects, as the beats drop in thunderous fashion for an exhilarating finale.

Selection two 'Strong Feeling' lands with an equally impressive display of craftsmanship. Tempo comes down a touch here while fitting nicely into a progressive house narrative. Once again PIMI carves out a shapely groove, perfectly laying the foundation for hook-heavy arps and chirpy percussion which pushes energy into the break. Electric lines and filtered effects dominate the centrepiece, perfectly providing the backdrop for flickering co-actions, before ultimately spearheading a driving final act.

The release concludes with 'Blue Storm' which finds PIMI continuing to explore the peak-time style for which he is sure to become known for. A tough, muscular groove sits at the foundation, while dancing arps and haunted synth phrasing add bounce and drive. Proving his prowess as a supreme effects craftsman, PIMI brings a unique array of vibrant sonics which add depth and colour across the journey, as squelchy synths and warm bass swells propel the track to a smooth conclusion. It rounds out a hugely successful production debut for PIMI, an artist who looks to emerge further as 2023 unfolds. Highly recommended.

Presenting their second release, Musique de Lune’s Noire division welcomes Ash Mellor & Steve Fokas to the label for their debut single. Hailing from the UK, Ash Mellor is perhaps best known for being half of the Sixty Feet Deep artist moniker. Inspired by the likes of such as John Digweed, Hernan Cattaneo, Nick Warren and Sasha, Sixty Feet Deep would make their debut in 2017 with a well-received single via Tears, before going on to release a four-track artist showcase via Brian Cid’s Endangered imprint. Meanwhile, Steve Fokas has enjoyed similar success since first emerging in 2020. It was a six-track EP via Endangered which won over progressive and melodic house & techno fans alike, a release which ultimately led to an equally large follow-up via Endangered late last year. Now, combining their extensive forces for the first time, Ash and Steve make their Musique de Lune Noire debut with ‘Because Of You’, alongside remixes from Vlad Jet and Gersh.

The Original Mix finds Ash and Steve masterfully synthesizing their talents into one singular charming vision. Deep and inviting from the outside, it’s tough beats, spacious grooves and cosmic effects set the course for a variety of ghostly vocal fragments and nostalgic arps. Hopeful pads add depth and space across the second act, as the vocal narrative expands onwards to a tastefully elegant finale.

Making his label debut and providing the first remix of ‘Because of You’ is Gersh. The Israeli artist emerged in the indie-dance scene last year with a contribution to Maccabi House’s ‘All Stars 02’ collection, before going on to record projects for Nein Records and Rotten City Files. Now bringing a fresh approach to ‘Because of You’, Gersh aims squarely for the dance floor with big breakbeats and electric rhythms anchoring soaring chords and deconstructed vocals. Tension and drama are at a premiere across a well-constructed second act, as atmosphere melts away and rhythm and groove perfectly segue into a muscular build and ultrasonic conclusion. Perfect for a peak time dance floor.

The release concludes with Vlad Jet also making his label debut with the second and final remix of ‘Because of You’. The Ukrainian artist has been a fixture of the electronic underground for over a decade, releasing his brand of melodic house and indie dance via Disco Halal, JEAHMON! Records and Sincopat, in turn earning support from Adam Port, Agoria and Moscoman and more. Here he brings a unique approach to ‘Because of You’ with retro-grooves, trippy arps and a thought-provoking atmospheric backdrop. A nostalgic rendition from Vlad Jet which makes for excellent Musique de Lune Noire debuts for himself, Gersh, Ash Mellor and Steve Fokas. Don’t miss it.

Despite our immense love for Melodic Techno, we also love other music genres. Because of that, for our PRT073 we came up with an Indie Dance EP.  Tom Keller continues to emerge in the underground scene as one of the good promises coming from Brazil, exemplifying his sound power, the producer delivers the EP "No Stop" composed of two original tracks that talk between Indie Dance and Peak Time from the best tracks in the world .  The title track "No Stop" delivers dramatic lines and a deep and well-structured melody that generates a great anti-drop expectation on the track, its drop delivers the necessary emotion that the audience craves, forming a prolific conversation with the audience that surrenders to the emotion provoked by the track.  "Pomba" comes with a groovy bass line that paves the progressive and energizing journey orchestrated by the hands of Tom Keller. Its synths form a perfect symbiosis between rhythm and melody, delivering a powerful and sophisticated Indie Dance. The producer delivers a worthy work that presents Prototype listeners with a genuine connection to electronic music.

Integral Bread again shows how difficult it's to classify his music style, creating two very different tracks, with resources inspired by various genres, which also draws on the different styles of his mates.

'Memories' (feat. Mihalyz) is a House piece (sometimes Progressive, sometimes Melodic) that captivates with its evocative and nostalgic sequences, arpeggios, and elements, that take us through different moods throughout its entire journey. 

'Rust Stain' (feat. Fonome) is a hypnotic, darker, and more minimalist track, with a slinky groove, and acid & grating elements. Progressive House, Melodic Techno, Minimal Techno, Electronica? Who knows, just worry about dancing.
