Release Promo Review

Nature Rec begins the new year in fine style with a much anticipated EP from label manager Dhany G. Based in Cuba, Dhany G first emerged as a producer in 2017 and in relatively short order has gone on to showcase his music via Balkan Connection, Droid9, Freegrant Music, ICONYC and One Of A Kind, while earning support from top trendsetters Cid Inc, Hernan Cattaneo, Nick Warren and more. Also an established DJ, the Havana resident has been a fixture of his country's nightlife for the better part of a decade, delighting crowds at EYEIFE, La Casona de Miramar, Proelectronica and Salon Rosado de La Tropical. Now, embarking on his first solo project for Nature Rec, Dhany returns to the label with a four track showcase entitled 'La Magia'. 

As Dhany continues to find a healthy balance between organic and progressive house, it is the melodic sounds of the title selection which lead the release off. Backed by punchy beats and a warm, fluid groove, its free flowing energy is appealing from the start. Pixie-like melodies and gentle chord stabs marry beautifully with clattering percussion and wispy effects across the first act. As the break approaches, tantalizing arps, muted pianos and warm, textural drifts blanket the groove, creating a colourful bridge into an exhilarating finale. Meanwhile, 'Shamatha' finds Dhany flexing the organic side of his production repertoire, with a mildly cross cultural creation that excels through exotic drum detail and hopeful melodic concepts. Nicely topped up with the transcendent sounds of nature, it finds that middle ground between soulful and seductive.

The EP's halfway point is marked with the meditative sounds of 'Mountain Prayer'. A buoyant arp leads the way here, flowing through tasteful modulation and accented nicely with wispy effects and driving percussion. The main break goes down as one of the biggest dance floor moments on the EP, with a well executed build that's sure to create some memorable club moments in the coming months. Rounding out the release are the groovy, percussive sounds of 'Zeno'. A spirited vocal sample strikes early, bringing immediate colour to the exotic framework, as catchy arps dance gently below the surface. Bringing the EP's most traditional melodic moment is the main break, complete with a classic progressive build and a catchy drop to send people home with a smile. Dhany G has grown immensely as an artist over the last four years and this collection sits as his crowning achievement thus far, with four distinctly unique creations that should find favour with progressive and organic DJs alike. Highly recommended.

Francesco Pico's Perpetual E-Motion album comes to a climax here with the fourth episode which includes the songs Perpetual E-Motion and The Way We Used To.

A unique concept: creating an album two songs at a time, releasing them in pairs before unleashing the complete collection. As we speak Francesco himself doesn't even know how the album will end. What we do know however is that we've reached the peak time moment right here with these two songs. 

Perpetual E-Motion instantly captivates with its uplifting arpeggiated melody and catchy vocals. Truly one for a proper moment of dance floor euphoria. 

The Way We Used To Do is a clever throwback to the heyday of progressive house; the late 90's / early 00's. An easy task for Francesco as he's been releasing music since 1996 himself.

Another great teaser for what's to come.. this album is shaping up to be a unique piece of art!

Facundo Borras makes his return on MNL after his Oathkeeper release and remix for Audiogliders' Oxygeneration single earlier this year. This time he presents two fresh tracks; Whispers From Dawn and Herogasm, a collab with Leandro Caceres.

We also welcome David Calo and Ruben Karapetyan on board, each taking on remix duties for one of the originals.
