Da Luka's roku imprint continues a strong start to the year by welcoming VegaZ SL to the label for his debut EP. Hailing from the progressive house hotbed of Sri Lanka, Vegaz SL has established himself with a mesmerizing groovy sound that continues to fuel his country's dancefloors. On the strength of early tracks in 2021, the Galle resident would go on to compile an impressive resume across the next three calendar years, showcasing his music via Droid9, Mango Alley, Movement Recordings, Sound Avenue, WARPP and his own La Foresta imprint; while some of the world's most highly regarded DJs championed his work along the way. Now, beginning 2024 on a strong note, VegaZ SL debuts on roku with 'Not In Never Falling', alongside remixes from Paul Hamilton and Kyotto. 

The release concludes with Kyotto making his label debut with the lone interpretation of 'Me And I'. First emerging in 2017, Sri Lankan artist Kyotto was quickly tipped as one of his country's most promising progressive house artists. Releases via JEE Productions, Mango Alley, Sound Avenue and his own CRFT Music imprint have been recent discography highlights, while Hernan Cattaneo continues to be steadfast with support. Continuing to rise out of his country's electronic landscape, Kyotto now debuts on roku with a heady take on 'Me And I'. Focusing on a slightly darker monochrome, the Colombo resident takes aim at the dancefloor for what results in a slow-burning seven-minute journey. Gyrating rhythms and deep chugging basslines set the course for snatches of flickering percussion and shapeshifting effects. Looking to bring a surreal yet dramatic response, the main break shifts the narrative through anticipatory arps and a growling underbelly, before a contemporary build cues a stripped back drop and prophetic finale, one which an astute dancefloor will certainly appreciate.

Analog Jungs’ Constellation Music closes out 2024’s second quarter by showcasing new interpretations of Ivan Aliaga’s ‘Robotica / Black Whale’. Released in March of this year, the two-track showcase marked the Argentinean artist's label debut and was met with much praise. Ivan’s prophetic approach to progressive house has been both unique and elusive, in turn generating a litany of A-list DJ support, from Hernan Cattaneo and Nick Warren to John Digweed and Guy J. As the year’s second half quickly approaches, Constellation Music revisits Ivan’s ‘Robotica / Black Whale’ double-a-side release, showcasing with new interpretations from Digital Mess, Jamie Stevens and label bosses Analog Jungs.

The release concludes with Analog Jungs returning to the label with the second and final interpretation of ‘Robotica’. Made up of Argentinean artists Claudio Cornejo and Gustavo Ruarte, Analog Jungs have been revered figures in the progressive house underground for the better part of a decade, earning praise from genre tastemakers Hernan Cattaneo and Nick Warren. The duo's colourful, club friendly sound flourished as a result, finding a home on some of the genre's trendsetting imprints, such as Clubsonica, Mango Alley, Meanwhile, Or Two Strangers and The Soundgarden. 2023 proved to be an impactful year for the Cordoba duo, with the formation and subsequent success of Constellation Music, a record label which now stakes a claim as one of progressive music’s best new imprints. Continuing to build on the label’s success, Analog Jungs now return to Constellation with a stellar take on ‘Robotica’. Bringing a progressive state of mind, the duo carefully balances the themes from the original with their own melodic groove-centric sound. Timely effects and murky atmospheres steal the air atop thunderous beats and rippling grooves; while a tastefully twisted break and enlightening drop seal what is the ultimate dance floor bomb to round out the release on a high note.

Secret Feelings closes out a strong spring season with a new single from label boss JFR. Hailing from Argentina but currently calling Spain home, Juan Franco Rivero aka JFR has carved out a unique sonic identity in the world of progressive and organic house, resulting in a string of uniquely crafted records that present a resonant worldly sound. Enjoying a steady rise since emerging 2017, it was 2021 which proved to be a breakout year for JFR, as the Argentine continued his upward trajectory with a standout release for UK behemoth Anjunadeep; a project which would lead to offerings via Clubsonica and Musique de Lune across the next calendar year, and in turn garnering support from Hernan Cattaneo, Nick Warren and Sebastian Leger. 2023 would also bring newfound success for JFR, launching his Secret Feelings imprint in September with 'Anatonic', before ending the year with the critically acclaimed five-track showcase '21 Angels'. With four successful single's to begin 2024, the most recent of which was May's 'Kain', the Barcelona resident continues to build his Secret Feeling imprint with a new single entitled 'Bichu', alongside remixes from Scippo and Saintbull.

Beginning with the Original Mix, JFR finds a perfect balance between dancefloor energy and arcane musicality. Full of quirky melodic qualities, the Barcelona resident expertly blends plush kick drums, warm rolling grooves and cascading synth phrases, all perfectly bound together with tight compact drum arrangements. Further revealing his keen sense of dancefloor dynamics across the break, JFR expands the narrative amidst waves of colour and texture; all blanketed with dramatic overlays, before a classy drop cues a wave of noise and soaring finale, complete with key-changing grooves and tension filled tones.

Making his label debut and providing the first remix of 'Bichu' is Scippo. The Argentina born, Spain based artist arrives on the label following an EP for Canada's Strange Town Recordings to begin the year. The Flown Records boss always seems to craft something unique in all his remixes, and that holds true here as he strips the majority of atmosphere away and dubs down the melodies into rhythmic co-actions for a contemporary dancefloor romp. 

Also making his label debut with the second and final interpretation of 'Bichu' is Saintbull. The Spanish artist and Perfect Balance label boss brings further diversity to the project with a melodic house and techno slant on the track, one which is very much sitting within the genre's trends at the moment. Saintbull stays quite true to the melodic themes from the original here, but with a tougher more compact framework, crunchy rhythm section and a healthy dose of astral aesthetics, this should not only fair well on the dancefloor, but closes the release out on a tougher note. Highly recommended.
