Continuing to add new talent to their roster, Tash's Movement Recordings welcomes Maze 28 and TEELCO to the label for their debut EP. Hailing from Albania, Mario Zefi aka Maze 28 has emerged as one of his country's most hotly tipped progressive house artists. In just three short years the Durres resident has earned support from genre tastemakers Hernan Cattaneo and Nick Warren, while his melodic creations have found a home on Clubsonica, iNU, Juicebox Music, RKP and Mango Alley, the latter of which operates as his primary home. Meanwhile, fellow countryman TEELCO has been a fixture of the progressive house underground for the better part of a decade. Noted for his deep melodic sound, the Tirana resident first emerged on the strength of tracks for Balkan Connection's BC2 and Soundteller Records, making him a name to watch going forward. The next decade would see TEELCO further hone his craft and notch standout releases for Deep Down Music, Mango Alley, RKP and Univack, while earning the praise of genre tastemakers Hernan Cattaneo and Mariano Mellino. Having been paired previously for Mango Alley, Maze 28 and TEELCO now combine their extensive forces once again, with their much anticipated Movement Recordings debut 'Sense'. 

Maze 28 and TEELCO showcase their ever growing creative synergy on the lead selection 'Sense'. Aimed squarely at the dancefloor, its rhythmic energies and catchy synths are immediately infectious, perfectly anchored by a warm key changing groove for maximum emotional response. The break furthers the track's evolution with a spacious approach, letting the lead breathe against a backdrop of warm textural drifts and poignant bass swells, before an intense build sparks a huge finale to send people home with a smile. 

'Seekers' continues the EP's peaktime appeal with a similarly energetic approach. Here, Maze 28 and TEELCO add a great sense of space with electric lines taking centre stage atop charged beats and full rolling basslines. Nostalgic in nature and mood, its supreme flow not only makes for a perfect mid-set style track but also furthers the emotive lean of the release. 

The release concludes with the lush sounds of 'Kintsugi'. With a backbone of tough kick drums and chunky rhythms, comes an air of shapeshifting atmospheres and subtle but heartfelt melodies, resulting in the ultimate goosebump worthy vibe. Staying true to its title, the main break delights with a backbone of breakbeat percussion setting the stage for an oriental-themed melody to round out the EP on a feel good note.

An artist with a growing Meanwhile history, Mike Rish returns to the label with a 3rd original EP, this time with the “Akhnaton / Gröv / Cloudbreaker” triple-tracker.

A story that began in late-2021, Mike Rish and his “Beyond” EP ignited a spark that would go on to burn brightly amongst a galaxy of stars on GMJ & Matter’s flagship imprint. Already a regular on such celebrated labels as Kasey Taylor’s Vapour Recordings, Praveen Achary’s Juicebox Music and Guy J’s Lost & Found, the Australian artist has continued to see his distinctive and mature production sound much sought after.

Now returning to Meanwhile for the first time since June 2023’s “GT / Shoreditch Funk / Reka”, “Akhnaton” is inspired by the Amsterdam club of the same name and host of Meanwhile’s debut label showcase at ADE 2023. Full of trademark character, the track is a pounding club floor-filler with white-noise back drop and chugging bassline intent. Full of mesmeric soundscapes, and cascading delays, the track builds in power as subtle melodies are introduced amongst the immaculately placed pauses that help ramp up the intensity. The result is a masterful affair.

Continuing the hefty rhythmic narrative, familiar tropes percolate around “Gröv” like a fine wine. Under a huge, throbbing backdrop of seismic beat and cavernous bass pattern, spine-tingling melodies float across the mid-range before coming to the fore at the extended breakdown. Adding to the sonic collage with a hypnotising off-beat chord motif, the track then drops back into the familiar form of earlier phases as it draws to its conclusion.

The final offering sees “Cloudbreaker” continue to push the sonic envelope with the immaculately crafted bassline extravaganza. Full of percussive intent with shaker-fuelled top-line, a richly syncopated melody captures dancefloor attention, held through a sustained bass phrase at the breakdown. Hitting its straps again in the third movement, the gargantuan groove and luscious melodic interplay break through in a stormfront of club vibrancy and brio.

A force to be reckoned with via another EP chock-full of skill, technique and craftsmanship, Mike Rish excels once more via his “Ahknaton / Gröv / Cloudbreaker” EP.

Serious Dancers are ones of the most representative names in the Organic House music scene nowadays. This time they want to show their skills when they also make Progressive House music, but still loyal to their particular style, characterized by solid beats, energetic grooves, hypnotic and evocative melodies, and  cinematic  elements.
