The first edition of "Fables" sees us visiting Argentina for the sounds of 'Agustin Pietrocola', 'Alan Cerra', 'Jesuan M', 'Pedro Belardo' & 'Unusual Soul', followed by a long journey north for the echos of Colombia by 'NuFects' & Mexico's 'David Podhel'. We then sail across the Pacific to listen to the songlines of the Australian brothers - 'Rodskeez' & 'Mars Monero' and then continue the passage into India to hear the mythical stories of 'Rudra' & 'Funksun'. A stopover across the border into Pakistan to witness the chronicles of "STEREO MUNK" & "Cryptic Realms" and finally flying over to Sweden for the Nordic folktale of "EMPHI". These are their Fables. '

Presenting their second release of the year, Antrim’s Or Two Strangers welcomes Sebastian Sellares back to the label for a new EP. The Cordoba resident has been one of the imprints core artists since first appearing in 2019, with five original productions released over the course of a prolific sixteen month stretch. UK behemoth Anjunadeep, Cid Inc’s Replug Records, GMJ and Matter's Meanwhile and US powerhouse Proton Music have also served as landing spots for the Argentine's mesmerizing productions, while progressive music tastemakers Hernan Cattaneo and Nick Warren continue to champion his sound. With the year being highlighted by the recently released Replug vehicle ‘Sky Above’, a joint EP project produced alongside fellow countryman Ezequiel Arias, Sebastian now returns to Or Two Strangers with a three track showcase entitled ‘Blizzard’.

EP opener and title selection ‘Blizzard’ finds Sebastian operating at the peak of his creative powers. Fuelled by tough driving beats and layers of hypnotic percussion; it’s Sebastian’s stirring melodies which ultimately shape the piece into a memorable dance floor slam. Colourful cascades emerge leading into the main break, sitting in an emotional headspace and bringing with them trails of balmy atmospherics and effervescent effects, before eventually breaking off into a drop of rebounding rhythms and heartwarming chord changes.

Selection two ‘Elements of Nature’ lands with an equally impressive display of craftsmanship. Sebastian re-affirms his ability to tip a late-night dance floor over the edge, with wobbly grooves and hip-swinging percussion laying the foundation for misty atmospheres and smoky instrumentation. Sitting comfortably in an ethereal yet thought provoking space, thumping beats rise out of a soulful strum-led break into an ever-evolving, free form finale.

The EP’s final selection ‘Hypnotica’ finds Sebastian continuing to diversify his portfolio with a whimsical creation that’s nicely dialled for the sunrise hours. Deeper in design and highly stylized in delivery, its beautifully contoured, funk-fuelled groove sets the course for incandescent melodies and otherworldly harmonics to create a panoramic musical skyline. Often celebrated for his ability to create emotional themes, Sebastian has ventured further with the ‘Blizzard’ collection, into a time of true innovation, traversing a multitude of realms and dimensions within the progressive spectrum, while excelling throughout.

Darin Epsilon's label Perspectives Digital returns for the fourth consecutive year with its massively popular ‘MMW & WMC Sampler'.  The 2017 edition continues the tradition of showcasing some of the finest talent in the industry.  

The first selection of the series is provided by DJ's Roma Rone and Igor Ri9or.  blaktone is a brand new music project from Saint-Petersburg and their music is a symbiosis of progressive and techno sounds.  Ri9or is no stranger to the electronic music scene with releases on labels such as Balkan Connection, Bonzai Progressive, Visceral, and Pangea Recordings.  blaktone's ‘Aurora' teases the listener with threads of atmospheric sweeps but quickly launches into commanding force with its dark and gnarly bassline.

Teaming up for the second selection is Hasan Mogol and Be Morais.  German producer Hasan Mogol has been creating an array of hypnotizing, crowd-pleasing sounds for over ten years.  Brazilian producer and co-owner of Not Another Music, Be Morais, is rapidly establishing himself as a respected artist with his steady stream of works on Stripped Recordings, Dear Deer, and Slideways.  Hasan and Be Morais' collaboration on ‘Awkward Dance' crafts an undeniably industrious and sinister vibe with its pounding kick, haunting bassline and grimy chords. 

Next up is Kamilo Sanclemente making his third appearance on the label. The Colombian producer maintains his masterful discography on imprints such as Einmusika, Baroque, and Mistique Music.  He's a staple on the Progressive House charts and a constant presence in Hernan Cattaneo's charts and ‘Resident' radio show.  Kamilo's offering titled ‘The White City' pushes the listener into a spellbinding state with its vigorous layers of percussion and eerie vocal samples.

Completing the series is Hungarian producer Paul Kardos.  Paul's impactful debut on Perspectives titled ‘The Other' was instrumental to the success of the ‘2016 ADE Sampler' last October.  Paul brings his signature blend of melodic techno and contemporary progressive house with his newest production. In ‘Ancient Astronaut', the dominating groove and whimsical chords continuously build, creating relentless tension that satisfies in the third act with a dramatic finish.

Renowned for his ability to paint the most evocative musical pictures imaginable, every second of his near 9-minute reimagining of ‘We All Look A Little Weird Naked’ is an audio experience to be savoured. Weaving a deliciously hypnotic spell, he dives deep into that otherworldly space that exists between conscious and unconscious worlds. Anyone who has previously discovered this stylistically nomadic producer’s work on labels such as Lost & Found, Sudbeat, Plattenbank, GEM Records and Tronic, will know that this remix is one to relish and treasure.

Perhaps it’s his background in creating the finest chilled music for many years, but Tripswitch’s thriving ability to create ever more exceptional euphoric dancefloor fillers, that also incorporate an enthralling dreamlike quality, is truly unique. His blend of power, precision and poise is an exceptionally enticing recipe and what makes his remix of ‘We All Look A Little Weird Naked’ a standout interpretation. 2019 was a good year for Matias, will releases for Balkan Connection, Soundteller, Onedotsixtwo and more, plus a coveted addition to the Patrice Baumel Global Underground mix, the first City Series compilation in 4 years. To add to this, he’s had a busy year of gigs and strong support from Spotify, so 2020 looks like it’ll be even bigger. 

Opening with ‘Red Line’ we are quickly whisked away with rolling bass and hats, underpinned by surefooted kicks. Bass pressure increases organically as soundscape pads glisten on this new school meets old groovathon. ‘Watergate’ follows apace. Tribal rhythms from the outset make way for a strong percussive underbelly and delicate sonics. Mind music at its devastating finest. Finally, ‘Analog Ghosts’ rounds out a fascinating triple-header. Label boss Madloch returns to 3rd Avenue with a new single entitled 'Flow State'. With the majority of the Belgian artist's output being reserved for parent label Sound Avenue, it's a rare occurrence for Madloch to land on it's more progressive minded counterpart. May of 2019 did however yield the two track 'Grindstone' EP, which found the Belgian artist focusing on the groovier, more esoteric side of the genre. Now making an unexpected return Madloch presents a new single alongside remixes from Subandrio and Beije. 

Although becoming increasingly more known for his deep, dubby productions; Madloch explores the tougher, peak time inspired side of his repertoire here. Pulsating and energetic, it's a creation built around rhythmic drive and tension filled motifs. Piercing tones and percussive flurries steal the air as a warm, fluid groove undulates below. As the first act evolves a hook heavy acid line fades to prominence, before a wave of frayed percussion unleashes emotive chord changes and impassioned overlays. Brief but impactful, the main break pushes the sonic envelope with one final rush of noise to spark an exhilarating finale. 

The first interpretation of 'Flow State' is provided by Subandrio who makes his label debut. As one of his country's most highly regarded progressive music talents, the Sri Lankan artist has long been a favourite of genre tastemakers Hernan Cattaneo and Nick Warren. Releases on Cid Inc's Replug Records, Beat Boutique, Balance Music and Sudbeat sit prominently in his discography, as he continues to sit amongst the movement's elite. Now following a remix for Chris Cargo, the Colombo resident debuts on 3rd Avenue with a powerful rendition of 'Flow State'. Always a creative remixer, Subandrio deconstructs the main elements into newfound themes for what sits as an ideal complement to the original. Atop a tough, full bodied groove comes rippling bass tones, clattering drums and buzzing synths. It's a remarkable sonic marriage and one which makes for an energetic yet tense journey, feverously peaking as sizzling acid lines burn across the break, before an exhilarating final act puts a cap on this creative gem.

Rounding out the release and providing the second and final interpretation of 'Flow State' is Beije. The Canadian duo are no strangers to the Belgian imprint having delivered their 'Novo' EP in 2019, while a remix for Jeff Eveline's 'Crashes In Love' landed in March of this year. Also finding a home on Manual Music, Sound Avenue and Where The Heart Is, Beije's fresh take on melodic house has propelled them into one of the genre's top up and coming acts. Now making a welcome return to 3rd Avenue, the Toronto residents deliver an impassioned take on 'Flow State'. Glacial lines, ethereal vocal wails and soulful strums unite for a gorgeous blend of sound and colour. Spirited instrumentation gets teased across the break, adding a nostalgic flair before effortlessly shifting energy into a glowing finale. A gorgeous remix from Beije which caps off a welcome return to 3rd Avenue for label boss Madloch.
