If art was ever meant to be a form of expression, free flowing and honest, relevant and not current, today’s music and musicians may partially live up to the definition. Jason Pigg however, has personified just that throughout his inconspicuous career. Never has the Northern California bred Mcee referred to himself as a rapper, but as an artist. Staying true to his roots, his personality as well as his incredibly underrated talent, has remained humble and sincere throughout the years. Forever changing, growing his simple yet effective vocabulary and mellow style, the once former San Francisco Academy of Art student, has maintained his uniqueness while flying very low under the radar of music execs and labels.

Born and raised in Santa Rosa California, a small community located in California’s bay area, Jason had never taken on the typical sound of his fellow bay area counterparts. Influenced heavily by his father’s and younger brother’s love for 70′s funk, his music has taken on a sound so easy on the ears that even local radio DJ’s have deemed the young man a “breathe of fresh air.” Even being blessed with an unimaginable talent, Jason had always been a student of art and life and decided to put his music on hold to graduate college with a Bachelor’s degree in communication at Chico State University. Though very focused, his love of art and music would not escape him and before long, the Northern Cali mcee found himself the lead singer of Butte county’s number one music group (The Hooliganz) for the next several years. Even with a radio number 1 hit in “Stevie Wonder,” a promising hip-hop group and armed with a college degree, Jason still found himself absent of record deals and notoriety he longed for and focused his attention on his first solo album, “Brief History,” in 2006. The album was extremely successful in Northern California and featured production from another Northern Cali talent who would become an intricate part of Jason’s career, Producer and engineer Irthwirm.

Though his talent proceeded him, deals still were hard to find absent of a label and proper management. Jason caught his first big break in 2008 when he won the Suzuki Motorcycles nation wide Busa Beats Hip Hop Battle and the artist’s entire career would take on an unexpected change. After winning the competition Jason was sent to Indianapolis to host and perform in front of thousands of motorcycle enthusiasts at the XDL Championships. From his success there, the still humble and independent artist landed 3 national tours (IMS and most recently the Icon Limiter Tour), a television co-star appearance on Speed TV’s Stealth Rider program, for which he also landed the title track and produced 23 different records, a full page article in 2 Wheel Tuner, and garnished substantial nationwide notoriety. In 2011, Jason found himself hosting the Busa Beats competition he had previously won, along side celebrity radio and tv personality, Big Tigger and landed his first record deal. He also received attention from Complex and The Source magazine respectively, who threw the mcee a proper New York congratulatory party and featured him in their on line magazines, alts while recording his 3rd solo album titled “Life, Love, Music, Passion” that was released on tour winer quarter 2001. With a highly touted LP appropriately named “545 Talbot” (The street the cali mcee grew up on), a live performance in New York City’s Time Square, a new live band adding to his already superb live show and the launch of Fresh Side Radio in which the Mcee will take his first professional hosting job, Mr. Pigg is setting the bar very high for 2013.
