Creativity and music are not a hobby for me — they are a necessity.
They are the only forces that keep me grounded on this planet. My thoughts and ideas are free; they exist beyond systems, beyond ownership, beyond payment. No one can tax imagination.

I create because I must. I design and produce sound to translate invisible thoughts into tangible form. I believe creativity has value — not only spiritual, but real, measurable, and worthy of support. This is not ambition. This is survival through creation.

brokenpaws has been making music since 1976
First singing in Rock bands in the mid 70’s to later Electronic and Experimental music in the early 80’s to the present
He’s been recording non stop since 1980
A member of Relevant Sources 1981-1983 who covered Electronic Experimental Electro Pop to Musique Concrete
RS later morphed into wings + heaven in 2001
brokenpaws came into being offically in 1983
Since that time bp has delved into many different styles of music but for the most part in the area of Electronic Music
He has written music for Dance and some Art Videos
After spending the 90’s in San Francisco he returned to Calgary helping to form
Electronic Music Calgary with Michael Weicker where they presented monthly Electronic Music shows for 5 years
bp later helmed Electron music night for a year and a half
With Electron he did a lot of improv shows with assorted musicians which led to the formation of later groups
Smothpaws , The Accidental Sdtks , The Wendy Walters , Vi An and The Imperial Guard ,
Xibit 7 , Ambienta , Geopaws and others
bp has appeared on 2 tribute Albums to the late great Billy Mackenzie of The Associates
Internally collected recordings of musicians from around The World
Bono of U2 once said that “The Associates we ripped them off I couldn’t rip off Mackenzie”
bp was also music director for the 1111 Art Show the biggest art show ever staged in Calgary
He also played it with Vi An Diep on the 11 hours and 11 minutes of music presented that day Plus over 900 pieces of Art
Some other projects are Tranznational (Denmark) and blueropa (England) dogpuppet (toy Instruments)
He uses what ever instrument he can get his hands on to make the sounds he needs
Synth , keys , guitar , bass , found sound and tapes , turntables , toy instruments , voice , samples , clarinet or what ever makes a nice noise or sound
He records on the bbmusique label and has released cd’s from his collection of 100’s of recordings going back 1979 - The Present
