Danish Dj and producer May Larke comes equipped with an interesting story to tell. Classically trained as a child, she first became involved with music from a very young age, and is proficient in several instruments, as well as an educated songwriter. Born in London, and with an upbringing in Greenland, Denmark & Norway, she gives us her take on underground electronic music. While having a multicultural upbringing, it was the connection she felt with the big clubs in ibiza, that led her to start studying music production.  

May’s depth of productivity goes far and beyond your average electronic artist, with her skill set making her extensively self-sufficient. Retaining a desire to play the music she loves first and foremost, has kept her refreshing and relevant. Starting out playing techno at underground parties in the north, but later entering the world of tech house, through the glamorous villa parties in Ibiza, has been two different worlds that has both shaped her uplifting and groovy sound. 

The last four and a half years, May has been focusing all her awake time on music production, and taken production lessons in Manchester, and in May 2022 her first techno record "Like this" was released on ibiza based Suro Records. "Like this" quickly entered the Beatport charts,  both as "hype picks", "best hype peak-time techno june", and "top 100 hype Beatport techno” and was followed up with 2 EP’s on Reload records in June and December 2023 and before releasing on the mighty Drumcode in March 2024. 

By throwing herself in at the deep end and putting herself in front of the masses, May has been seen performing internationally in Ibiza, London, Denmark, Miami, Germany, Switzerland and several venues in Norway, Her likeability and sincerity complement the ‘all about the music’ approach she takes when conducting herself at a professional capacity. That very ethos has seen her continued featuring with several promotions and radio stations. Including the likes of Destino (tox) Ibiza, Bora bora Ibiza & The Zoo Project, Tantra Ibiza, Culturebox Copenhagen, Jaeger Oslo, Unity Radio, Art basel Miami, Ibiza BPM radio, Miami beast Radio, Intensa FM, Radio Techno Norway, Sound of Scandinavia, Storgata 26 Oslo, Zimmermanns Cologne, Norwegian Open Air, and several festivals in Norway.

- Seeds and Dreams sprouting in Darkness 🖤 - 

Born in 1978 in Germany, Roul Bauer—better known as Vicious Steam Engine—discovered his passion for techno during the explosive rave movement of the 1990s in Switzerland and Germany. Deeply inspired by the driving rhythms and hypnotic energy of the scene, he carried that passion forward until it fully ignited during the COVID-19 lockdown in August 2020. It was then that his desire to create his own sonic journeys came to life.

A year later, he began producing his own techno tracks and honed his mixing skills through a DJ/mixing workshop with Mixmasters.ch. To sharpen his craft and connect with the underground community, he launched his own podcast on SoundCloud: Hot Pressure Stream. Originally started as a training ground, the podcast quickly gained momentum, attracting a growing audience and guest DJs such as Anne Rosko, Isca Nublar, 909RIOT, Traumtherapie, DJ E-Viction, Tchie, Andy Pirie, Techno X-Citement, DJ Capelli, X-Dream, and Nao Tamura.

Vicious Steam Engine has made guest appearances on several respected underground techno podcasts, including TECNO OSCURO (2 DJ sets), A Darker Wave, Techno Topic by Andy Pirie, and RTDFRAVERRADIO (Brooklyn, NY). He has also been featured on Capelli’s Outta Freak’in Control Podcast, an episodic series that showcases cutting-edge underground talent and airs on RTDFRAVERRADIO.com. His recent guest sets placed him alongside legendary and rising artists such as Frankie Bones, Lenny Dee, Jim Solis, D.A.V.E. The Drummer, Rewilder, Chris Liberator, DJ Papa Smrf, Jay Maniakal, DJ Capelli, DJ Hooraa, Bösetecha, Destro187, and Belaroc.

On November 28, 2021, Vicious Steam Engine released his debut EP Dark Dance of Gratitude on TECNO OSCURO, followed by the Kill the Silence EP on April 18, 2022.

Since 2023, he has taken a deep dive into music production, attending two techno retreats hosted by Mixmasters.net in Ibiza. There, he studied with industry legends such as Funk D’Void, Patrik Berg, Harvey McKay, Wehbba, and Josh Wink. He is currently advancing his production skills through an online course in electronic music at Sinee Institute, led by Björn Torwellen, while also mastering the Ableton Push 2.

With relentless dedication to evolving his sound, Vicious Steam Engine continues to build momentum and forge his path in the global techno scene.
