Mørbeck makes mighty meaty material. That much is clear, but what's also pretty cool is that he chooses to do it on his own terms. Beyond a loosie here and there, like the M_REC 12" from this year, he opts to release on own-brand labels, Code Is Law included.

The hourlong double EP T.R.I.P.S. is Mørbeck's most comprehensive statement to date – and, for our money, the best yet. "Virgin Suicide" is uncommonly brash, winching its way towards a killer bait 'n switch in the final third, but still retaining enough of the robust techno to mark it as definably his.

Codeislaw008 drops Sept 10th. You'd do wisely to bag on sight.

Reload Black's unstoppable juggernaut rolls on with another weaponized release, this time from London-based Jason Fernandes, presenting his latest three-track offering, titled 'A Few Days Of Madness'. 

The title-track serves as the opener, with a rumbling bassline and obvious spoken word passages running throughout the affair, as haunting riffs and tasty stabs take center stage. 'Can't Sleep' is toned up just a bit and the focus shifts to the busy rhythm section and streamlined electronics, while accompanied by reverberating metallic chords. 

The EP closes with the even more esoteric 'Lying By Omission', where looped-out bleeps and dark, melodic overtones all come together to form a spooky vibe with the distressed synths barely being contained in the production confines. A beautiful cross section example of everything that contemporary techno has to offer nowadays, is given on The Nursery’s 14 th . It’s high quality stuff, coming from three Italian producers and one from Berlin. And not just demographically seen is this a versatile EP, also in terms of the music itself there is a great variety of influences to be found within these four tracks. Manuel di Martino’s and Marco Bruno’s opening tracks breathe Detroit, meaning dreamy synths backed by the unmistakable drums of a 909. Lastly, a more fitting closing than Mas Teeveh’s ambient-like ‘Sogno Condiviso’ is unimaginable. Few things are as satisfying as EP’s like these, where four various artists from such different backgrounds find their solo tracks blending into a narrative as sincere as this one. But then again, that’s what The Nursery has been all about so far.
