Here's the second part of my set from our 10th edition of the YES!. Warm hugs to all my wild dancers who didn't even thought about stop dancing when the lights had been on for almost half an hour. Also I would like to thank my partner in crime Chinaski who played an amazing set. What a great vibe and enormous energy. It felt incredibly good to see so many familiar faces again, sharing emotions and riding the waves together with you.

I decided to play some of the most precious records from my still-growing-collection.

Nothing is left to chance. Expect nothing but layers of fathomless and directionless numbness that leads to distorted guitars and unpredictable drumming.

We're very happy to have Mateo aka @TheusMago join the Sinchi series. Mateo also known for being co-founder of record label Duro and also releasing music and performing under his Bufi moniker. As Theus Mago, he has a rich history of releases on labels such as correspondent, Ombra, La Dame Noir and Lumiere Noire amongst others. As you will read in the below interview, there is much more to come too.

1) Introduce yourself?

My name is Mateo González, I create music and DJ under the aliases Theus Mago and Bufi since the late 2000's.

2) What have been your highlights from the last 12 months?

Definitely my highlight was releasing an EP on one of my all-time favourite labels Optimo Music (EP is out now digitally and one of the tracks was released on vinyl through the same label).

Also touring Europe last April was remarkable, especially playing at Sisyphus Berlin.

3) What do you have lined up for the coming year?

Another European tour in October / November, an EP on Pets Recordings as Theus Mago, an EP with Moderna on Side Up Works (with awesome remixes from Ewan Pearson, Justin Robertson and more), and a Bufi EP on Feines Tier that includes a killer remix from Curses.

It was in Mexico City where Korean producer, SHUBOSTAR progressed in her craft and broke through into the electronic scene. Moving to Mexico following a job lead, she chose to stay in the capital, instantly falling in love with the people and culture. 

Now stuck back in Korea due to the ongoing pandemic, she's been filling her time by starting her own downtempo party in Seoul, named DAUM TEMPO. She can also be found fishing for vinyl to play at listening sessions, in bars that are still allowed to open.

With influence from artists like Todd Terje, Lindstrøm and Tom Tom Disco, SHUBOSTAR's music is best described as a personal spin on Italo and Nordic disco, a style that she refers to as 'cosmic disco'. Read more on the mix and our interview with her below...

Thomas Roland and James Weissinger, honing their skills for almost 15 years as resident DJs at MAKING TIME, Philadelphia's never-ending nightlife institution, the Zillas have recently turned their attention to original production. With the 2019 release of their Black Cat EP (Optimo Music) and the She Takes NRG EP (Ivan Smagghe’s Les Disques de la Mort), among other releases, the Zillas have garnered support from fellow futuristic travelers like Roman Flügel, Jennifer Cardini, Justin Strauss, The Juan MacLean, Cooper Saver, and many more.
