Radio Daze, Summer Haze

Sometimes, it takes me a minute to curate my We Are Alive! playlists. It's a time, and an opportunity, for me to sit down with my feelings and process everything I've lived through and loved since the last playlist I published. Playlist no. 10 is centered around love. This past year, I've loved the hardest and let myself be vulnerable to myself and to others. It's been a challenge and I've learned a lot about love and those who I love(d), including myself. Julio Galvez is a music lover, world traveler, community organizer and entrepreneur. Known by his stage name, The Whooligan, he has over 15 years of performance experience as a globally-recognized artist. From 2013-2018, he was the Director of Worldwide Bookings and Partnerships for Los Angeles based music collective, Soulection. Now, The Whooligan is focusing his time outside of his demanding show and production schedule to build on his newly formed humanitarian organization, Room Service International. Room Service aims to give-back by amplifying stories from underserved regions all over the world and activating community service projects that bring tangible change within these communities, all through the power of music. As a multifaceted and genre-bending artist, he’s also shared the stage with the likes of the late Mac Miller, DJ Jazzy Jeff, Kenny Dope, Just Blaze, DJ A-Trak, Mark Farina, Tokimonsta, The Internet, Little Dragon, De La Soul, Kaytranada and more. The Whooligan’s live DJ performances permeate an eclectic, stylistic mix of internationally influenced progressive soul, funky house, disco and feel good hip hop that will mirror the energy of the crowd, his love for people and his intimate connection with the world and travel.

Whether blending two records in a unique fashion or working closely to cultivate next level talent, the common thread is his ability to see beauty in all. 
Perhaps his greatest ripple in the arena’s of music and culture culminate in his humanitarian organization, Room Service International. A group founded by The Whooligan that aims to “amplify stories and important issues from underprivileged and impoverished regions from all the world.”

The Whooligan’s unique perspective and keen ear are evident in our latest MAPLE Radio mix titled “Always Moving Forward V2’. BIO:

Giovanni Jano, better known as JAEL, is a 24 year old Moluccan musician, producer, deejay and singer from The Hague, The Netherlands. His passion for music all began when he grew up with soul/funk classics & Vinyl. His parents are funk & soul lovers, so JAEL started to embrace these vibes and wanted to make his own music.

JAEL came into contact with the guitar, drums, keys and started to realize that playing music is his destiny.

Playing instruments become second nature to him, but a few years later he was exploring some music programmes, and felt like making music on his old Windows PC. JAEL mixed his soul & funk feels with his electronic vibes and combined it with a touch of smoothness & Beats. 

His most favourite artists are: Sango, Anderson Paak, J-Dilla, Kaidi Tatham, DEGO, Steve Spacek, Domu, Butcher Brown, DJ Harrison, Mndsgn, Dwele, Slum Village, Erykah Badu, Flying Lotus, D'Angelo, DJ Rob Manga, Mayer Hawthorne, Kendrick Lamar, BJ The Chicago Kid and many more.

As a Deejay he's still fully inspired by his uncle DJ Rob Manga. JAEL was growing into the dutch Deejay scene and came in contact with great names like Jarreau Vandal, Full Crate, The Flexican & also was booked at the biggest festivals in The Netherlands such as Latin Village & Eastville Festival. 

Currently, JAEL is searching and creating his own sound and is busy on his debut EP that is scheduled to drop in 2017. It contains influences of artists such as Bryson Tiller, D'Angelo & Anderson .Paak. In the past few years JAEL got really inspired by these soulfull artists. The EP contains acoustic songs & futuristic sounds. Jaël is known as a remixer/beatmaker/deejay, but he is also a singer. So be on the lookout for JAEL's vocals & instrumental sounds.
