With a firm nod to the community, revered Techno aficionado, Roberto reveals the launch of his new record label, Fossil Archive and its first release ‘Prolecanites Gurleyi’.

Roberto has already built quite the discography with previous releases on Fachwerk, Affin, Artform and Be As One, as well as establishing himself as a DJ with gigs at the likes of fabric, Berghain and Tresor (listen to his latest Tresor set here https://soundcloud.com/robertodj/jaunt-podcast-ep86-roberto) and recently took time out from his busy schedule to talk to Marcus Barnes for The Independent’s blog http://blogs.independent.co.uk/2014/11/11/techno-artist-roberto-on-his-double-life/

Now, as we enter 2015, a new kind of Techno is starting to emerge as the soundtrack for a generation and Fossil Archive has found itself at the forefront of this celebration.

"I come from a background where most releases were traditionally cut at 45rpm, with one track per side on a 12-inch record", says Roberto.  "The music always sounded great, as it was mastered and cut to its highest potential.  Increasingly these days there seems to be a trend where a lot of labels are squeezing a number of tracks on to each side of a 12-inch record.  I want to go against that and make sure the music is presented in the purest way possible by cutting one track per side at 45rpm.  The label will release primarily vinyl, although digital versions will also be available to purchase.”

Stripped of that cheery outlook that can characterise a pop song, ‘Prolecanites Gurleyi’ replaces it with a life-affirming rhythm, driving home a groove designed for those with an acute interest to intonation and audibility.  The most observant will notice the subtleties and feel the tonal influence energise dance floors and hasten interest.

A definitive curation of deep, four on the floor with a clean cut approach to its percussive soundscape, each frequency is given the space and time needed to help advance an alive and kicking stimuli of Techno resonance.

Celebrating the sound of the moment, Fossil Archive reflects the true spirit of Techno, devoting its classic approach with a British accent.  This formal contribution to Techno is a much anticipated move, and already well received ahead of its first release.  Donning a party hat and Techno fist in the air, their first release has already gathered momentum with it doing damage at some of the worlds most revered Techno events.

This inaugural release will be available from 23rd February 2015.

Surfacing to release Steyoyoke Recordings next EP for 2015 is Tel Aviv based artist Ran Salman. Ran brings together an all original three track EP titled ’Anamnesis’, which culminates for his dedication and recent hard work in the studio.

The title track ‘Anamnesis’ depicts a whirlwind progression of energy and power, infiltrated with subtle accents and rich bass lines. There is a hidden darkness that resides within this track, but its presence is fleeting and can only be captured with a finely tuned awareness.

‘Lost Into You’ kicks off with the full brunt of some chunky techno beats, which quickly give way to an explosion of passionate melodies and esoteric sythns. All three of these elements cement the tracks bold vibe and reflects an unmistakable intrepidness that will capture your attention with ease.  

The third and final track ‘Tales’ was inspired to reflect past club experiences and fond dance floor moments. Ran sequences warm big room sounds with a break down that is both uplifting and captivating. ‘Tales’ stimulates the soul with its enchanting soundscapes and smooth grooves.

Next up on John Digweed’s forward-thinking Bedrock label is an exceptional single-track release from a key member of the Hamburg-based Diynamic collective – Holger Behn aka H.O.S.H.

‘Lunchtime’ with its infectious, restrained, inexorable upward trajectory is a masterpiece that bides its time.  Nothing is rushed, the pace is perfect, the arrangement sublime.  The complex interplay of percussive parts becomes an integral melodic element, underpinned with the rising swell of deep bass pads, steadily building towards a euphoric breakdown before re-launching into a heavenly final movement of blissful magnificence. 

It is no wonder that ‘Lunchtime’ is such a master-class of musical brilliance, because H.O.S.H. is a DJ who values the art of mixing records and sequencing journeys - preferably long ones - over anything else.  Anyone who has been witness to his DJ sets played during his gigs on every continent over the last few years would be unlikely to disagree.  His lengthy sessions behind the decks have afforded him an exceptional, invaluable insight into exactly what works best on the world’s finest dancefloors.

His enthusiasm to drive electronic music ever forward is a perfect match with John Digweed and his Bedrock label’s aim to always continue to push musical boundaries further.
