Matthias Meyer and a trio label of debutants make up the fourth instalment of the much-loved ‘Watergate Affairs’ series.
 
Initiated in 2016, the series assembles a collection of top-quality tracks that otherwise could not fit into Watergate’s busy release schedule, such is the strong pool of music the label draws from.

Emerging Dutch producer Budakid joins the label with ‘Orrery’, after previously making an impact with cuts on Last Night On Earth, Einmusika and Lost & Found. The track’s dreamy soundscapes and otherworldly energy make for a transcendental mood maker. Matthias Meyer is suitably superb with ‘Interlude’, as delicate strings and a muffled melody line gently wash against a shore of sparse beats. Henri Bergmann & Julian Wassermann link for ‘Maenad’, as punchy grooves bring the EP into peak-time territory as a multi-layered chord pattern hits with a satisfying headrush. Danish artist Nandu rounds out the package with ‘My Mystery Is A Mystery’. It’s the kind of succulent end-of-nighter every set needs as uplifting pads, stirring keys and a buttery bassline glide together in sweet unison.

The latest release from Tash's Movement Recordings welcomes Roni Iron back to the label for his debut EP. Based in Athens, the Greek artist has a two-decade long career in electronic music. As a staple in the Beatport, Itunes and Traxsource sales charts, Roni has showcased his music on Balkan Connection South America, Kingstreet Sounds, Nitegrooves, Cafe de Anatolia and Retrolounge Recordings. His Movement Recordings debut came in 2015 with a well received remix of 'Candy Lips' by T.Pals and John Teki, before going on to contribute original productions to the label's 'Modern Filosophy' and 'Technical Progress' collections. Now making a welcome return Roni presents his first Movement Recordings EP 'Hidden Places' alongside remixes from Kintar and Framework.

The second and final interpretation of 'Umatic Child' is provided by Framewerk who make their label debut. Hailing from the UK, Darren James and Alec Milliner make up the Framewerk production duo. Long time progressive house fans may remember Darren and Alec as Manhattan who released more than a few gems from 1999-2003. More recently under the Framewerk alias they've rebuilt their long-standing Capital Heaven imprint while also showcasing their music on Beat Boutique, JOOF Recordings, ICONYC and Selador. Now making a welcome first appearance on Movement Framewerk deliver two inspired takes on 'Umatic Child'. Often splitting time between club-oriented material and exotic electronica, the UK duo opt for the latter here with their 'Pictures on a Screen' interpretation. A collage of broken beats, finely tuned percussion, sprawling vocal wails and spirited electronics unite for a gorgeous blend of melody and colour. Mountainous bass flows through poignant chord changes before an icy break and spoken word motif preludes an arp driven finale. Meanwhile, Framewerk's 'Umatic Chill' interpretation dials things down further with an elegant ambient take, highlighting the main themes across a gorgeous, cinematic style tapestry. Two stunning remixes from Framewerk, capping off what is another well rounded release for Movement Recordings.

'Al Pagoda's debut mini album to be released on Bigamo Musik, 30th October. Seven songs built out of layering luminous synth melodies that sound strong, iconic, like a childhood memory that's long been dormant.

Originally from Valencia, Spain, Al Pagoda settled in Berlin in 2015, where he started working as a composer for movie soundtracks.

His cinematic approach can be felt throughout his music; his songs unfold like stories that take us to the crux of an inescapable revelation. Built from short snippets recorded in Al Pagoda's phone over the years, Lucky Veil was put together during a winter in Berlin, in a room with no windows.'

Premiere: Fur Coat - The Mist [Renaissance]

Renaissance present the return of Fur Coat and the third single to be taken from their critically acclaimed album ‘Polyphony’.

‘The Storm’ EP features one of the album’s most successful cuts, ’Eye Of The Storm’, with the much sought-after vocal talents of Delhia De France; and ‘The Mist’, a new track Fur Coat wrote exclusively for the EP.

“I was in the studio working on new ideas for 2021,” explains Fur Coat’s Sergio regarding the new track, “and wanted something emotional, with a positive mood that made people dance at the same time. Although we are still living with restrictions and lockdown, you have to keep the motivation and hope for the better times ahead.”

Meanwhile, ‘Eye Of The Storm’, which is a 110 BPM sultry, downtempo affair in original album guise, receives the full club treatment courtesy of leading producers Nico Stojan and MODEM. 

Nico Stojan needs little introduction, with a long history of releasing on the world’s best labels. The ethereal remix is redolent in his beautiful, deep, electronic style and will no doubt have broad appeal.

Premiere: Fur Coat Ft. Delhia De France - Eye Of The Storm (Nico Stojan Remix) [Renaissance Records]

Renaissance are delighted to announce their first ever various artists (V/A) EP!

It may seem strange to say that, but it’s true, in all of the brand’s near thirty-year history, it has never dipped its toe in the water of V/As. The ‘Merin’ EP (FYI, Merin is Yoruba for four) will - you guessed it - always feature four key cuts from the planet’s best and marks its debut with a diverse haul that looks across three continents to present a multi-genre package.

Freshly minted from his Øostil partnership, Mexico’s HeÎk demonstrates his solo-studio prowess with ‘Eunoia’, a powerful, yet beautiful melodic techno ride; Holland’s Rob Hes provides ‘Undivided’, which has a similar style and feel so we guess you could consider it a Europe vs South America MH&T-showdown. The winner, of course, is entirely up to you!

The other half of the package goes solely to Canada and comes courtesy of three of the Montreal’s brightest talents - UNDERHER & Shades Of Blk and Woe. UNDERHER’s collaboration with Shades Of Blk, ‘Yesterday’, further confirms his status as one of the finest vocal-driven producers at work today; featuring the haunting vocals of Eleonora, the track walks the deft line between deep and organic, and will likely find favour with both camps. Woe on the other hand, takes things into indie territory with ‘Episode’, a twisted, dark, arp-infused composition that will no doubt delight and terrify in equal measure.
