'Shore to Shore’ is the debut album set to drop from Phase on Metalheadz, and after the artist’s history on the label, it was the next obvious step for both him as well as the imprint. Handpicked by Metalheadz label boss Goldie, the Belgium native residing in Switzerland is following in the footsteps of a Beatport No.1 on Metalheadz with his collaboration ‘Call In Me’ alongside Grey Code with a brand new album.

‘Shore to Shore’ brings back the all-encompassing listening experience of an album. With thirteen brand new records offered by the producer, each selection is as immersive as the next. Beginning with its title track, it delivers layer upon layer of cascading breaks and stunning vocal crescendos from LaMeduza and it’s the optimum way for Phase to pull you into his domain. ‘Stress Out’ and ‘Frameworks’ provide a darker climate, juxtaposed by the ethereal tones of ‘Flowstone’ and ‘Cloud Contours’. The more stripped back assembly of ‘Something’s Missing’ pushes against the drum rhythms of ‘Inner Schism’, whilst LaMeduza appears once again for ‘Thirds’ and ‘Good For Nothing’. ‘Quick Fix’ flips the switch with its subterranean levels meanwhile the grooves of ‘Tatter Tune’ add more to the track list’s diversity. Ending the album comes ‘Riven’ with its jazz-inspired breakdowns and ‘Only One’ with UK talent Tyler Daley – a name in his own right and highlighting the scope at Phase’s fingertips.

Even the album’s artwork, hand-painted by Italian designer Matteo Saccò is a visual representation of the album's journey. Mirroring its audio experiences of different emotions and turbulences throughout, it repackages these themes in a visual format. Highlighting once again that ‘Shore to Shore’ truly is an all-encompassing project.

For the burgeoning producer, ‘Shore to Shore’ is one of his biggest projects. It lays bare the musicality he has available to him through years of dedication to the craft and with a combined journey, Metalheadz was the perfect place for its release. It proves that alongside several singles laying in its wake, April is looking to be another important month for both the producer and the LP’s home at Metalheadz.

Technique Recordings head-honcho’s @DrumsoundandBasslineSmith have had a massive year; adding to this their remix of @KennyKen’s iconic track “Everyman” and they’re looking to continue their explosive takeover of 2019. 

War on Silence debuted to the drum and bass scene in November 2018 and since this point they’ve had a consistent stream of stellar releases - spearheading outputs from the likes of Heist, Funtcase, Malux, Teddy Killerz, its creator Crissy Criss and many more. And following their forthcoming release, a remix from Drumsound & Bassline Smith, it’s certain to say they won’t be slowing down with their high calibre flow of records.

With the original legendary track also featuring DRS (Dirty Rotten Scoundrels), it was first dropped in 1994, before being reworked by legends such as Kenny Ken himself, Benny Page, DJ Monk as well as a host of other taste making names over the years. Each time, the benchmark has been set even higher from the original; every artist has added their own signature palette with every version. Boasting of 24 years of history, the remix criterion is once again about to be brought through a new lens, although this time by Drumsound & Bassline Smith who add their own signature flavours along with the 2019 jungle drum and bass texture.

When Drumsound & Bassline Smith take on Kenny Ken’s “Everyman” you can instantly detect their moniker, peddling a different vibe whilst infusing a high level of energy, something which can be witnessed throughout their live sets. The junglist vocals offer the original warmth to the track, setting it up to face the twisting of its drop. It’s first breakdown will propel its listener across any dancefloor and with each almighty roar, it flourishes with the heavyweight crisp bass credentials Drumsound & Bassline Smith have become renowned for. 

It’s a remix perfect enough to deliver to the treasury of releases War on Silence have been building since their launch, as well as a remix which presents another stunning addition to the collection of revamps which have been 24 years in the making.

From crossover success to being pillars of the drum & bass community, both René LaVice and duo Future Cut have histories which highlight the genres diversity. Whilst René LaVice has spent over two years on the Radio 1 airwaves, showcasing the very best tracks from throughout the global scene, Future Cut have several UK #1s, alongside helping the growth of drum & bass within Manchester’s pivotal growth during the 90s. Now together they unleash a new three-track release on imperative platform Metalheadz, an imprint which has already played host to Future Cut and one which will soon be seeing its first delivery from René LaVice. Spearheaded by Goldie, its heritage is undeniable, and it’s become a lasting part of UK dance music culture, stretching its influence throughout the world.

Rolling breaks and growling bass layers characterise the opening track ‘Nine Strings’. Meanwhile, ‘Eyes’ looks at contemporary trends through a new light alongside drum heavy sequences. Aptly named ‘Deeandbee’ then draws the release to a close, amongst searing synthesis and pounds of sub bass following its first breakdown. Each track pulls together another massive signing from Metalheadz; together René LaVice and Future Cut add three more tracks to the label’s antique collection.
