ViktorE - Overdose (SONEK Remix)

Beats From The Streets originally started in 2007 as a monthly podcast for Vinylslut.ca, a Calgary based website showcasing a variety of electronic music.  The show ran for 40 episodes and was well received locally and internationally. BFTS supported the Calgary scene by featuring a multitude of local DJs.

Beats From The Streets then evolved from a podcast into a series of parties at various Calgary nightclubs.  The BFTS DJs have also had the pleasure of opening up for such international DJs as Horse Meat Disco, Eddie C, Lady Miss Kier, Fred Everything, Colette, Halo, Kruse & Nuremburg, Ben Watt, Jazzy Eyewear, Bryan Jones, Hipp-e and many more.

BFTS is firmly rooted in house music but branches out into other genres such as breakbeat and disco.  The focus of BFTS has always been a dedicated passion for quality underground electronic music.  BFTS has now been rebranded as the Render Recordings show, which airs on the fourth Saturday of every month on Cutter's Choice Radio (UK). Thanks for listening to our mixes!

Mike Wilson, widely known as SONEK, emerges as a dynamic force in the electronic music scene, hailing from the vibrant city of Calgary, Canada. Not only does he wear the hat of a rising producer and DJ, but he also commands the helm of the record label Render Recordings. SONEK's journey into the electronic music realm dates back many years, where his talent has graced stages alongside internationally acclaimed artists such as Deekline, Slynk, Fort Knox 5, WBBL, X-Ray Ted, Keith Mackenzie, Bobby C Sound TV, and more. His signature sets, blending fresh breakbeats and four-to-the-floor house music, have reverberated at prestigious festivals including Astral Harvest, Odyssey Gathering, Calgary Electronic Music Festival, Waynefest, Treemendus, as well as various club nights across western Canada and Asia. SONEK's remarkable contributions to the electronic music scene have garnered well-deserved recognition. 

Taking a logical step forward in his career, Mike delved into producing top-notch Breaks and Bass House tracks, infused with elements of Booty and Electro. His remix for V.I.M.BREAKS in 2011 marked a turning point, setting the stage for a prolific career. Winning the DIABLO LOCO RECORDS remix competition with his rendition of Synthetic Hype's "Slap Da Bass" further solidified his standing. SONEK's discography includes notable releases on Breakbeat Paradise Recordings, Wildfire Recordings, Diablo Loco, Diesel Recordings, Breakz R Boss Records, and Grits n Gravy. The recent addition of his Canadian label, 'Render Recordings,' underscores his commitment to full creative control over the music. 

SONEK's tracks have found a place on renowned compilations like Dig the Nu Breed, Shoot ‘Em Up, Lucha Libre, and Secret Weapons. His music has gained exposure on MixMag in the UK, leading to a nomination for Best EDM Recording of the Year at the 2023 YYC Music Awards. As a panelist at the Alberta Electronic Music Conference, SONEK actively contributes to industry discussions. His consistent presence on Beatport’s Top 100 Breaks Tracks reflects the resonance of his work. DJ-Pipes is the brainchild of Joshua Pipes, a long-time DJ and producer who has charted as high as number 1 on the Beatport breaks and UK garage charts.
