Requiem - Sound of Transience: An Acoustic Experience
15’, autoproduction (Allemagne)

Cette composition mélange des field recordings et des sons électroniques, capturant différentes atmosphères spatiales. Tout d’abord, nous sommes dans l’unité de soins intensifs d’un hôpital, où nous entendons les sons rythmés et sonores des appareils médicaux. Dans une cour berlinoise, un chariot en métal transporte le cercueil jusqu’à la salle de veillée, où les bruits ambiants se mêlent aux bols chantants résonnants. Enfin, au crématorium, où le cercueil entre dans le four.

Miri Berlin produit des longs métrages radiophoniques depuis 2018 et  travaille également comme field recordist. Cette année, elle s’est aussi aventurée dans la composition sonore.

Daed's music is characterized by creative sound design, intricate edits, thick atmospheres and playful melodies. His work has been compared to the likes of Autechre, Venetian Snares, Squarepusher, and Aphex Twin. He focuses heavily on the creation of abstract, other-worldly sounds as exemplified by his work with Glitchmachines and Inear Display. He is firmly establishing himself with releases on Mozyk, Analogical Force, and Concrete Collage. He continually seeks to push the boundaries of what he creates and has started creating custom software to achieve this goal and he is the co-founder of Defunkt Records.

Which artists have influenced you the most?
- I'm heavily influenced by Aphex Twin, Squarepusher, Qebrus, Noisia and Autechre. I also have a past with metal music that drives a lot of my decisions.

What new projects/releases with your participation are expected in the near future?
- I have several projects lined up, but nothing in the very near future. Some self-released, some with labels. I do have a metal project that I'm slowly putting together, which relates a lot to my last answer.

Which artists/labels are more relevant to you now?
- Currently, Defunkt Records, Analogical Force, and Concrete Collage.

What inspires you now to create music?
- Everything. Living, experiencing life. All of it inspires music for me. I don't think I would be alive today if it weren't for music and it is a very central part of my existence. 

What set-up do you use when creating music?
- I bounce between a lot of things. Most of my released music is created using Renoise, but I also like to dabble in a lot of other software (Bitwig, Blockhead, VCV Rack). In terms of hardware, I use an octatrack live, along with whatever I feel like syncing to it. Some of my gear includes: An Arturia Minifreak, a Korg Monologue, a guitar, a M8 tracker, and an LXR-02 Drum machine.

To start with, saxophonist Taneli Viitahuhta - ex-Heteroskeleton, Rab-Rab member in Helsinki - improvised a response to "Flap" by Ben Moran Healy (guitar) and Jessica Harper (violin). His saxophone stylings were peeled off their tangy Yorkshire sticker and applied to "Okay You Sort It Out", a drum solo by Guy Evans, and "Bank Holiday Time Again", a bass excursion by Jair-Rohm Parker Wells - itself originally a response to a duet by Ben Moran Healy and Rob Jones of the Psychedelic Bolsheviks, unacknowledged legislators of many thoughts in your head. But hold on! With "Unassuming Genius", Taneli was suddenly exposed - Lou Christie-like - as a Nordic sax nouveau to challenge Jan Garbarek, ECM, Steve Lake and all who sail thereupon ... Wowie Zowie, as Pamela Zarubica was wont to say ...
