Foremost international techno outlet Drumcode is delighted to announce the release of its next full-length album, ‘Satellite’, by enduring Italian techno talent Sam Paganini.

Though he has been active since the mid nineties, recent years have been hugely successful for Sam, with searing techno EPs coming on revered labels such as Riche Hawtin’s Plus8, Sven Vath’s Cocoon and of course, Adam Beyer’s Drumcode. In his time he has been responsible for underground hits like ‘Zoe’, ‘Polyester’ and ‘Fire In My Arms’, all of which demonstrate his dynamic understanding of sexy, dark and hypnotic techno grooves and at the same time have earned him plenty of great Beatport chart positions as well as respect from the best in the game.

Incredibly, ‘Satellite’ is Sam’s first full-length album. Informed by his DJ gigs at legendary places like Berghain in Berlin and Cielo in New York, the album starts with a dystopian bit of sonic scene setting, as if a space ship is charging up ready to take off.

From there it’s a case of getting straight down to business. ‘Another Chance’ is a spacey bit of cantering techno and ‘White’ is rooted in devastating kick drums and is riddled with serrated synth lines that build lots of great techno pressure. ‘Down’ is an undulating bit of funky techno complete with choice vocal flourishes and tracks like ‘Lotus’ are prime offerings from the deeper end of the scale.

No two tracks sound the same on Satellite: Sam is always teasing out a new bit of texture, nailing a slightly different vibe or exploring different amounts of light and dark throughout the course of this most excellent album. This is evidenced by diverse cuts like ‘Dusty’, ‘Toxic’ and ‘Rave’.

Despite ‘Satellite’ being Sam’s debut album, it showcases his seductive style in all its glory across 12 fantastic tracks that will leave you begging for more.

Beyer's new track "You're the Same" is six-and-a-half minutes of moody tones set to a slightly laid-back aesthetic. "I wanted to create a deep heavy ‘after hour-ish’ kind of tune but still with the Beyer weight to it," says Beyer. "Something I would play in the beginning of a night or when playing more deep...It's got a big fat vocoder in it which absolutely love; there should be more vocoders in dance music!"

Halle’s dynamic duo, Monkey Safari return to their beloved Hommage imprint after being away from the label for more then a year. With their beautifully crafted “Cranes” release they will surely make up for their long absence in a big way. Even looking at the names of the remixers in charge will leave every music lover very excited.

“Cranes” takes it’s time before introducing the bass drum, a bit more then two minutes to be exact. Monkey Safari get you in the mood with laid back, morphing spheric sounds and teasing percussion. The heavenly, slightly pitched down vocal will trigger a whole array of emotions before the journey even begins. Acoustic sounds combined with sleek piano chords and well placed break downs will make “Cranes” stay in your favorites list for months to come.

Everybody’s darling Kölsch is presenting the first remix. Kölsch is changing up the low frequencies as he adds layers of synthesizer progressions and a heavier bass drum. Sharp percussion and saw tooth sounds are drilling themselves through over ten minutes of musical bliss, but always leave enough space for the vocal to breath. 

Wolf + Lamb are closing out the release with their funk injected version. The lively acoustic drum programming breathes a different life into the track and takes it to a whole nother level. They provide “Cranes” with an overall more uplifting feel.

Luigi Tozzi is a young Roman artist just twenty-three years old but with a profound musical knowledge. His productions reflect the distinct musical style coming from the Italian capital, a style purveyed by artists now considered icons within the international techno scene. It’s the direct link to this sound that aligns Luigi’s music perfectly with the musical realm of Outis Music. The EP’s opening and title track “Calipso” is dedicated to the Goddess of the Sea “Calypso”, elegantly adding subtly trance-like traits to a classic 4/4 beat. Next piece “Ambrosia” finishes the first side with a deep, sophisticated and refined device dedicated to the Ocean God. Back at our mammoth Stay True Scotland broadcast earlier this month, one track came real close to bringing The Caves' roof down during Nina Kraviz's powerhouse headline set. "I Wanna Go Bang" very nearly executed its titular statement – well, if the song was more about wrecking balls and less about...oh, never mind.

The vocals that stalk the track, so wholly devoid of humanity, rub up against razor-sharp claps and serious bounce in the subs. It's weighty warehouse techno of the highest order, set to devastate dark basements and big tents alike throughout the year. Simply put: Icelandic producer Bjarki has delivered a bomb.

Collecting traces of the original sound and dispersing them with magic movements we see why Kollektiv Turmstrasse are a top act. Shifting the attention from the front to the far back from the obvious to the abstract... Turmstrasse create that parallel groove on top of the groove which seems to tighten up with every minute. Fine particles of sounds are sprayed onto the relentless groove and make it a real crowd pleaser.

Seit 2008 veröffentlicht der Mitbegründer des Kölner Musik Labels Ki kontinuierlich elektronische Musik. Dass er gerne zu künstlerischen Kollaborationen bereit ist, stellte er zuletzt 2011 auf der Ki-Spilt No.2 Baltic Sea gemeinsam mit Steffen Kirchhoff unter Beweis. Dort tauchten zum ersten Mal Vocals in Löfflers musikalischem Schaffen auf. Einmal auf den Geschmack gekommen, hat Löffler sich bei A Forest für gleich drei Tracks stimmliche Unterstützung geholt: Die gebürtige Dänin Gry Noehr Bagøien begleitet ihn bei Feelharmonia mit endlos gelooptem, gepitchtem sphärischem Summen, aus dem sich erst allmählich ganz artikulierte Wörter formen. Mohna, Frontfrau der Hamburger Band Me Succeeds unterstützt Christian Löffler bei Eleven. Auch Poet Marcus Roloff hat am Album mitgewirkt, seine mal implizit, mal explizit bedrohlich düsteren Texte fügen sich perfekt in die Löfflersche Klangwelt ein.

Für die dreimonatige Arbeit an seiner ersten LP, zog sich Christian Löffler in ein kleines Haus einer ehemaligen Gartenkolonie bei Usedom zurück. Dort gab es nur einen Raum, ein Fenster und einen Ausblick: Wald. Bei seinen Touren durch die karge Nachbarschaft hin zum Meer sammelte er die Geräusche ein, die ihn umgaben: Blätterknistern, Brandungsrauschen – mal beruhigend, mal bedrohlich, so wie Natur eben ist. Hohlige Holzsounds ziehen sich als mal leises, mal lauteres Geklöppel durch viele Tracks der Platte.
