I'm proud to be able to do this exclusive premiere, I'm happy that Vlimmer decided that it was appropriate for this release. "Bodenhex" does his other releases justice but is something of his own, it reminds me of the release he did for Repartiseraren, "Angststand". He's a very talented musician that has many outfits and outlets for his music. This song feels like a mix between shoegaze, coldwave, post-punk and experimental electronic music.

Here's what he has to say about the song itself:

"Endpuzzle was the final song that I recorded for the album, and it literally was the one missing piece of the puzzle I needed in order to make "Bodenhex" whole. After I had recorded 17 songs without being able to end the album recording sessions, I became a little impatient, as I never before experienced that something was missing when finishing my other albums. Writing the lyrics for the song turned out becoming an analogy to me as a human being, and how I'm just a piece of a puzzle myself, nothing more. You know, thinking about our existence, it sets things in perspective, and it's liberating in its truth that we as humans actually think too much of our impact on the history of the planet or the universe. We won't make a difference in the course of time. What is time anyways? It's a construct of mankind. We should all calm down and enjoy what we have."

There is something special about that dark and nostalgic music that seems to be echoing from the past, as if breaking through another dimension of time, trembling through the gritty playback on a warped and dusty tape, fading in and out on a crumbling old photograph, shades of colours long gone... long gone. The music of Black Swan has embraced this noir-fi aesthetic throughout the years, ever since I first heard the debut, In 8 Movements, released in 2010. Immersed in chilling ambience, hauntology, and the ephemera left behind, the music of Black Swan captures the eerie essence of the in-between, exploring the shadowed depths that linger at the periphery. Exactly twelve years ago, I invited this mysterious artist from New York to make me a Halloween-themed mix, which I published here as Music For Masquerade. Today, I am premiering two tracks for you from his upcoming album on Past Inside The Present, titled Ghost, to be released, of course, on Halloween. This is now his ninth full-length release, in which the spirits roam in our world, leaving their voiceprints on abandoned reel-to-reels to be discovered and played back. And as the twenty pieces and vignettes recede and fade away, all we are left with are the memories imprinted on our hearts and minds. The memories of those who are long gone... long gone. As we will be some day.

IC 443 is a supernova remnant, or the debris of an exploded star, which astronomers have nicknamed the Jellyfish Nebula. A visual composite image of IC 443 includes X-rays from NASA’s Chandra X-ray Observatory (cyan) and German ROSAT X-ray telescope (blue) along with radio data from the NSF’s Very Large Array (green) and optical data from the Digitized Sky Survey (red). The sonification of IC 443 begins with a top-down scan as the brightness of the data is correlated to the volume of the sound. The sounds are mapped to colors in the image with red light being heard as lower pitches, the green as medium, and the blue light as the higher pitches. This creates notes that sweep up and down in pitch continuously. Several colors are isolated and control the volume of sustained tones with red controlling the lowest note and white controlling the highest note. The background stars in the optical image have been converted to water drop sounds in the sonification.

BODYXVII takes you into that more dark spectrum of atmospheric ambient music. For this time of year. It can be described as melancholic, distant memories, fading images, darker places and so on but always with a touch of light.
