Equal parts energetic Bauhaus like rhythm meets the melancholic and anthemic choruses of The Cure; Please, Wake Up is a gothic love story, but not in the traditional sense. This story is not about loss or death, but of acceptance and wishfulness. The pulsing bass drives the journey along with a swinging drum beat to lead the listener to move their feet, while the simplistic but atmospheric guitars and keyboards beautifully layer the rhythm and help drive the anguished, but calm vocals. The chorus is impossible to ignore from the beginning “Please wake up, my soul seeks your light” lends itself to paint a beautifully sad picture in the listener's head, while also being quite catchy. There is a calm before the storm bridge that is atmospheric with bass and keyboards guiding the journey which finally leads into the crescendo that is a powerful outro as you can feel the pain in every “Please wake up tonight”.

Chained and helpless, Raewyn closed her eyes, focusing on the ancient teachings of her people. The rain in the forest, the rustle of leaves and the songs of the birds all came flooding back, calming her mind and steeling her spirit.

Her voice was firm as she invoked the Ancient Ones: "May the Guardians of the Threshold watch over me, and the Light of the Silver Tree guide me through the darkness."

As she spoke, a faint, silvery glow began to emanate from her very being, a light that seemed to grow in intensity as she drew on the power of her Elven heritage.

Tresur Heldros flung the door open, his eyes narrowing and a flicker of unease dancing across his face. "You are strong, I'll give you that," he sneered. "But you are still chained, still trapped. And in the end, you will be mine."

Raewyn smiled, a cold, mirthless smile. "We shall see, monster," she whispered, her eyes flashing with defiance. "We shall see...."

Today is a traveling day for the Phantom Laboratories West crew--we've packed up the mobile unit and we'll be leaving the sunny and warm California to return to...well, you can probably guess what Seattle will be like when we get back.  

So, why not a song about traveling--or, at least...dreaming about traveling.  That's the title of the latest Interbay drop--and uptempo hard house w/lo-fi urges and a woman telling a story about her own dreams.  

Perfect for a Saturday, perfect for getting you moving, and keeping you moving--"Dreaming About Traveling" is a solid entry into the ever expanding catalogue of Interbay songs posted here on SoundCloud.  It is a little dreamy and a little noisy...and when the beat switch happens right as the song comes to a complete stop at the end of the line, you do feel like you've been on a journey.

the PERSON, the SOUND : Since 1985, Philadelphia-born Michael has composed and released hundreds of audio recordings, and published dozens of [erotic] poems.

His 'sonic-sojourn' began suddenly when he was just a teen -- feet splashing rhythmically through puddles leftover by a seaside rainstorm. Having just parted ways with the then-love-of-his-life, Michael composed his first ballad [and first song] ever -- "Tina." He rushed to his beach-side home to record his visceral 'awakening' on a tiny micro-cassette recorder, and vowed -- from that day on -- to create art for the rest of his life.

He began zealously amassing used music equipment, and had built a modest home recording studio by age seventeen, all the while crafting simple pop, ambient, and experimental works that HE had wanted to listen to -- that HE had wanted to hear, affectionately emulating the works of his then-idols, Duran Duran and Brian Eno.

Now, decades later, he has relocated to a small village outside Atlanta, Georgia, and continues to voraciously attend to his dream as a young, heartbroken boy -- to create and release music that he, himself, wants to hear.

Although no longer sequestered to pop and ambient musics, Michael's signature sound has merged the two, having integrated the R&B, hiphop, and psychedelia he has grown to love as a older gent -- having absorbed the edgy rhythms and dreamy soul of the southern United States (Atlanta and Miami).

Michael still puts forth ample amounts af ambient musics, but his recent 'sound' hovers elsewhere -- somewhere amidst the genres of vaportrap, spacerock, and trip-hop.
