I started making tunes in 2005 when the band I was in (Powley) demised, musicians are hard to co-ordinate for practicing etc so I thought why not learn how to produce the whole thing.  I'm totally self taught, I do have a degree in Creative Music Technology, but that taught me nothing in the way of producing digital/dance music.  I'm mainly into drum and bass ever since hearing Black Sun Empire, Noisia, Phace et al about 4/5 years ago.  Before then I made jungle techno and was really into breaks as well.  This is my main hobby and I am never happier than when I'm making a beat, i'd happily make a career out of it, but I'm useless at promoting and marketing et cetera. Based out of Linz, north Austria, Martin Schober is a singular protagonist at the forefront of this beguiling game we call drum & bass. He likes hip-hop, skateboarding, schnitzel, Leibniz biscuits and long walks in the sunset, but he’s most respected for how he traipses across electronic music’s wildest terrains with total boundary abandonment… And is regarded as a leading influential new-gen figure in the genre. 

From his agenda-setting halftime twist of ‘Sunday Crunk’ to his rolling, emotional collabo cameo on Camo & Krooked’s acclaimed album ‘Mosaik’. From his entrance into the Fabriclive mix hall of fame with a mix album comprising entirely of his own productions (‘Fabriclive 95’) to his Drum&BassArena Award-winning debut album ‘Emulation’, Mefjus’s signature sound has been felt across the furthest expanses of the genre since he emerged in the early 2010s. 

Now working closely with Vision - the label run by kindred studio spirits Noisia - Mefjus continues to fine-tune his musical syntax, technical dexterity, eye for detail and deft groove sensibilities. The latest chapter to savour this on-going flux of development is his second album ‘Manifest’.

Released April 2018, ‘Manifest’ is the sound of Mefjus 2.0. After several years in the studio wilderness, exploring the dark science of song structure, musicality and textural contrasts, ‘Manifest’ captures a new mindset for Mefjus. Raw, energetic, playful and subversive, ‘Manifest’ is the most personal, diverse and daring body of work to date. Not so much as reminder of why he occupies such a unique position in drum & bass but a straight-up statement of intent.

A true pioneer of the Drum and Bass sound, Gridlok remains one of the most highly regarded artists in the industry. With a discography spanning over a two decades and featuring classics such as ‘Moodswings’, ‘Bottomfeeder’, and ‘Standing Room Only’, it’s little wonder that the Gridlok name has become synonymous with timeless Drum and Bass.

Involved with music from an early age, Ryan Powell aka Gridlok picked up a variety of instruments, but it was after experimenting with a cheap radio shack microphone paired with a 4-track tape recorder that he soon found himself in the murky world of production. Now with the use of a computer and an E-mu sampler along with an ever-changing combination of analogue gear and production techniques, this West Coast producer has led by example, constantly exploring new ways of injecting emotion and attitude into his art. 

The grimy uncompromising style that Gridlok has developed forms the foundation for his glittering career, gaining him the attention of his peers with household names such as Shy FX, Pendulum, and Dom and Roland lining up to work with the American producer. Acknowledged by artists in and out of Drum and Bass, Gridlok has put his spin on other genres, remixing for the likes of electronica giant Josh Wink and house legend Sasha. Gridlok’s original music and remixes have also branched into other media, with his work appearing in titles such as Konami’s Dance Dance Revolution and MTV’s Challenge series. Covering a wide spectrum within Drum and Bass, Gridlok’s versatile production has allowed him to release on a diverse range of labels, spanning from Ram Records and Playaz to Commercial Suicide and Moving Shadow, whilst maintaining his signature sound....

Hi I'm Jade Brown and I am a singer/songwriter currently based in Norfolk.
Most of the material published on here are rough arrangements of my original songs, and are pretty old now. I produced them myself (hence the dodgy recording and lazy looping in some parts!). Many of the vocals are one-takes after a bit of rehearsal - I’m aware at times I’m extremely flat and sharp!!  Unfortunately I don’t enjoy the producing part so much! So if anyone fancies helping me to produce these songs properly please do let me know!
I've been writing and performing in bands since the age of eleven and have found the ability to write lyrics for almost any type of backing.
Since finishing my degree in Creative Music Technology I have become a secondary school music teacher, which I thoroughly enjoy doing. And I am a mum to a wonderful little girl who, with the job and general life, means I don’t get as much time to make music as I had when producing the songs found here. 

Due to recent heartbreak I have found myself writing again - which is so cliche but hey! Heartbreak creates some of my best material (thank you ex-boyfriends, lovers and now ex-husband), and more recent, acoustic versions of new and old songs can now be found on my Facebook page; search for Jade Brown and I hope you enjoy what you hear. I'm not overly keen on the performing side as I have issues with my voice but I would love to become a professional songwriter.
