Bursting onto the Progressive House scene in mid-2020, Fausto Javier Loza has carved out quite a name for himself with his FJL production moniker. Since a debut on Balkan United, the Argentinean producer has found his music allied to such esteemed imprints as sister Madlochs Sound Avenue and 3rd Avenue, Roger Martinezs HIGHER STATES and Mangos all-conquering Mango Alley. Now the Rosario resident from the province of Sante Fe, debuts on Proportion with a 3-track EP of the highest order as FJL presents his Alter Ego / Losstower / Rare Wizards EP. With a deep, fizzing bassline narrative running throughout the triptych, Alter Ego is a chunky rhythmic powerhouse that sees a chest-thumping kick paired with a deliciously grooved bass pattern creating a sublime rolling pattern. A kaleidoscopic array of effects and risers are scattered across the 6-minute piece as a delicate arpeggiated melody gradually evolves from the low-end foundation. Pulsating white-noise washes and a hypnotic dance-floor vibe add to proceedings in an impressive opener. A Tech House vibe infuses Losstower with its plethora of stereo-panned effects and sub-bass groove. A series of cleverly treated vocal effects add to the sonic melange with their eerie overtones, while meticulously programmed hats and shakers provide dancefloor urgency. Subtle melodic flourishes add to the overall feel and the result is a production masterclass from the FJL studio. The final offering sees Rare Wizards immediately showcase its club-friendly credentials through house rhythm and hypnotic bass sequence. In keeping with its partner tracks, a flurry of deep, dark and powerful effects make their presence felt alongside evolving textures and immaculate melodic touches. Layer upon layer of evermore intricate sounds come to the fore, felt especially keenly at the powerfully pulsing breakdown, before returning to the dramatic rhythmic urgency and plethora of effects that create a track bringing to mind such maestros such as John Digweed, Quivver and Jamie Stevens.

The 38th release on Cid Inc's Replug Records welcomes Chicola to the label for his debut EP. The Israeli artist began his journey into electronic music in the mid-nineties, at Tel Aviv's renowned 'Allenby 58, DJing alongside Laurent Garnier, Carl Craig, Danny Tenaglia and countless other top international talents. His pendant for all things house and techno led to releases on Ministry of Sound and Tommy Boy Records. A calculated career pause saw the Israeli artist return in 2011 with a new found focus and more than two decades of production experience. Recent studio work for Lost & Found, microCastle, Sudbeat Music and Plattenbank Records, along with one hugely in demand and unreleased piece 'Childhood', has propelled Chicola into one of electronic music's most intriguing and in demand artists. The long time favourite of Hernan Cattaneo, Nick Warren, Guy J and Guy Mantzur now makes his Replug Records debut with a brand new two track EP entitled 'Everything Is Broken'.

The EP begins with its title and showcase piece 'Everything Is Broken'. Highlighted by rugged rhythms, distinctive designs and a flair for the dramatic; Chicola's ability to write varied styles of electronic music has been wrapped up into one seven minute monster of a track. As mounds of bass roll forward the swing heavy groove gets adorned with fiery stabs and waves of drums. It's a techno state of mind with a progressive sensibility, all culminating with a Moog-tastic lead and sheets of white noise, leading to the ultimate dance floor moment. After receiving heavy play from Hernan Cattaneo all through the fall club season, including an airing at Creamfields, Buenos Aires, 'Everything Is Broken' looks to be one of Chicola's most sought after productions this year.

The companion piece 'Formidable' finds Chicola going deeper and more hypnotic. With a modern flair it's wonky designs, sleek flow and panning effects build to a fervour over an intense first half, with buzzing synths delivering a dynamic moment, as the track strips down into its second act. Highlighted by a striking, cinematic swell, the short and calculated break reveals a moment of calm, before the charismatic rumblings return for a tastefully twisted conclusion. A subversive piece with contemporary appeal and an ideal complement to the larger 'Everything Is Broken'. It rounds the release out in style, amounting to another stunning offering from Chicola who continues to impress as 2016 unfolds.

The time has come for the third and final release of exclusive cuts from the Adana Twins mix compilation. Kicking things off is Aaaron’s ‘Muir’ where organic grooves lay the groundwork for ethereal melodies and sinister vocal calls before Adana Twins ‘Ocelotes’ picks up the pace as powerful percussives oppose robust sonic displays of emotion. 

Following suit of the previous track, Andre Hommen steps up next and delivers a vigorous journey where an unrelenting arpeggio drives forward at high velocity creating a wild and impassioned ride before Daniel Bortz and Sascha Sibler’s ‘Yuppie’ draws back the intensity level to deeper, dub infused territories where groove is paramount. 

‘Gazebo’ from Human Machine picks up the energy level once again as hi pace drums and rapid fire melodies culminate in a fever pitch of dance floor antics before Kadosh & Yost Koen’s ‘Dunkellila’ dives back into celestial territories as a ghostly lead winds eerily into oblivion. 

Rounding out the end of the release is Kintar & BOg’s ‘Tribelune’ where melodic percussion and lush sonics traverse a path deep into emotional sector’s before Upercent’s ‘La Lluita’ finalizes the release with an exquisite array of sonics laid over an engaging broken beat rhythm resulting in a lullaby-esque dreamscape of gorgeous harmonies. 

And for the vinyl connoisseurs Aaaron, Adana Twins, Human Machine, and André Hommen will be available via vinyl while the rest will be digital only. Enjoy!

Label boss DJ Zombi gets a real coup here, as Spanish legend Wally Lopez teams up with Israel's uber cool Lonya to deliver 'X-Groove'.

The original is a powerhouse of bass and general phatness, with plenty of energy and charisma, and packs a mighty punch! its a biggie, as you would expect from these two fine producers...

Dousk restrains the mood, while retaining the vibe and adding an air of sophistication to proceedings, whilst still seriously being capable of rocking a dance floor.

Spuri utilises the fierceness of the original and brings it to the forefront, while delivering a seriously cool rework.
