An artist with a diverse and storied relationship with the dance music scene, GMJ & Matter are proud to see Kasper Koman make his label debut with the twin-track "Sinking Sky / Biome". A veteran of more than a century of production credits dating back to a 2008 debut, Kasper Koman has seen his work signed to myriad high-profile labels including the likes of Plattenbank, Anjunadeep and Guy J's Lost & Found. From central Netherlands, Kasper has combined trademark emotion with a powerful and evocative sound that has seen his music supported by such leading tastemakers as Guy Mantzur, Nick Warren, Hernan Cattaneo and Guy J himself. Now debuting on Meanwhile, the "Sinking Sky" opener is characterised by a driving beat and metronomic hi-hat pattern. A running 16th note bassline pattern enters the fray in the second movement with a fizzing vibrancy provided by resonating and filtered effects. A cast of additional characters add to the overall sonic landscape including a beautifully juxtaposed pad progression. A spine-tingling breakdown provides acetylene-edged emotion via the extended bassline motif, before hitting its stride once more in the latter stages to wondrous effect and no small amount of production talent. "Biome" continues the narrative of raw effects-laden power, while a strong kick lays the foundation for a piercing percussive groove, adding swing to the off-beat. A well-crafted sonic palette supplies a soft chord progression of Kraftwerk-inspired imagination as a meandering array of well-placed effects, white-noise washes and rasping bass notes create a mosaic of sounds. The result is a hypnotic, angular offering that keeps listener interest piqued without a central melody seeing the 6-minute piece fly past in an instant. A South American duo of considerable repute, Ric Niels & Tiefstone join forces to display their combined talents on Opposite / Mannheim. From the nature-rich Chaco province in northeast Argentina, Ric Niels has carved out a sizeable reputation with his dramatic and charismatic brand of progressive house. With a triple century of production credits to his name after a 2020 debut on Clinique Recordings, Rics work has been a staple of such blue-chip imprints as Praveen Acharys Juicebox Music, Paul Thomas UV and a half-century of credits for Mangos eponymously titled, Mango Alley. Moreover, May 2023 saw the Argentinean hit impressive heights with his Psyncopath / Pirate EP on Proportion. A select portfolio of immaculately crafted music has seen Juan Carlos Villalba flourish with his Tiefstone production moniker after early high-profile releases on John Digweeds Bedrock Records and Hernan Cattaneos Sudbeat Music in 2016 and 2017. Since then, the Brazilian artist has gone on to showcase his work on TFT Musik, Dear Deer White and fellow countryman D-Noxs Sprout, in July 2024. Joining forces for the first time on Marchs 2024s Abby EP, Sudbeat Music was the perfect vehicle for the duos flowing production style with the title track championed by El Maestro himself. Now returning for their first collaborative outing on Dmitry Moloshs label, Opposite is characterised by a deep flowing groove and hefty beat that provides the perfect vehicle for a cavernous and growling bassline to power through the low-end. Rising and falling with open-filtered aggression, a searing lead-line adds vibrancy aplenty alongside white-noise washes. A pause for breath at the breakdown sees the introduction of smooth and pulsating waves of textured pads make their presence felt before the track drops back into the sublime dancefloor cadence of early phases. Continuing the strong rhythmic narrative of its counterpart, Mannheim is another chunky bass-fuelled affair that drives relentlessly forward with chest-thumping kick and percussive groove. Before long, the rhythmic collage is juxtaposed with an array of effects and pad layers while a central melodic theme enters the fray at the mid-point with an immaculate and spine-tingling accent that is sure to provide dancefloor appeal. Layered with the metrical poise of earlier phrasing, the combination of melody, rhythm and deep bass sequence then plays out in the second half to mesmerising effect.

Making her label debut, Amonita joins the Proportion roster with her beautiful “Riviera”. Describing herself as “a dreamy fairy, DJ and musician”, the best-selling Organic House artist is an ever-evolving force where “beauty, harmony and aesthetics” are found throughout her music. A regular on such celebrated imprints as All Day I Dream, Anjunadeep and Shanti Radio, “Riviera” is redolent in a beautiful and ethereal narrative that glistens through Amonita’s use of live acoustic instruments and synthesiser melodies. Easily developing over its 7-minute timeframe, a swathe of cascading melodies and counterpoint motifs create a stunning sonic smorgasbord as a whispering vocal adds a layer of magical intrigue. Backed by a deep kick, smooth sub-bass and body-shaking percussive groove of hats and shakers, Amonita’s “Riviera” is a joy to behold.

First up on remix duties, Michael Coninx is a hugely influential figure within the underground house and techno fraternity. Under his Hermanez production soubriquet, the Belgian artist has consistently found himself at the upper echelons of the Progressive, Deep and Organic House charts with a string of hits dating back to a 2009 debut on Edu Imbernon’s Eklektisch. 15 years and almost 500 production credits later, Hermanez has graced such leading imprints as Christian Smith’s Tronic, Guy J’s Lost & Found, John Digweed’s Bedrock Records and his own Mooizo, with a trademark sound supported by a DJ glitterati that includes Luciano, Loco Dice and Reboot. Another Proportion debutant, the Hermanez remix is a glorious groove-laden affair that makes elegant use of the melodic foundations of “Riviera” while combining them with a panoply of additional production material that showcases the Belgian’s unique sound. Analogue and modular arps plus melodies with huge reverb tails glide across the 7-minute piece with additional bleeps and stereo-panned effects.

The final remix sees Ranta take centre stage. An artist with a strong identity, his use of “organic instruments and Slavic melodies” creates a “story of vivid impressions to immerse the listener in a special atmosphere”. With such a powerful sonic vision, it is little wonder the Russian producer has featured on a plethora of blue-chip Organic House imprints since an early-2021 debut on RYNTH. Since then, a century of production credits have found their way onto the likes of WAYU Records, Plaisirs Sonores, Journey of the Soul and Nick Warren’s The Soundgarden, supported by such leading lights as Sebastien Leger, Tim Green, Roy Rosenfeld and Amonita herself. A third Proportion debutant now sees Ranta deliver a beautifully crafted interpretation that takes Amonita’s original and transforms it into a powerful club-friendly affair. Making intelligent use of Riviera’s melodic sweep and breathy vocal stanzas, Ranta takes elements central to the original and creates a pulsating remix that revels in a growling bassline sequence and chunky rhythmic foundation.

Returning to spearhead Meanwhile’s output as 2025 kicks into gear, the collaborative pairing of GMJ & Matter deliver “Telomeres” alongside a remix from Australian icons Kasey Taylor and Karl Pilbrow for their 2023 hit “EXT 135” to round out the package.

The Melbourne-based duo behind the Meanwhile imprint are widely recognised as responsible for helping shape the modern Progressive House scene. Pivotal in the development of the label’s development both as solo artists and with their combined output, their work on Meanwhile has seen the “Lost on Origin”, “Gauntlet” and “Eldarin” EPs all released over the label’s inaugural year (between April and August 2020), before “The Path / Perfect Storm” followed 6 months later. 18 months elapsed before “Ext 135 / Elemental / Time To Space” appeared at the end of 2022 with “Stellaris / Idritah” following a year later in December 2023.

Now as 2025 finds its feet, GMJ & Matter provide their fans with a seventh original release on their ever-evolving label. The powerful building blocks that shape “Telomeres” evolve easily from its rolling groove foundations and deep sub-bassline sequence. A muted arp comes to the fore in perfect synchronous cadence while the endless delays present in the analogue motif cascade across the stereo spectrum filling the sonic space. A new and dynamic arpeggio appears at the breakdown as its gradual open filter provides the weight and dancefloor gravitas to herald a drop into the third movement. The same sequence makes an appearance in the second half in combination with the other rhythmic and melodic characters, to devastating effect.

Vapour Recordings head honcho, Kasey Taylor needs little introduction to the Meanwhile cognoscenti. A bona fide electronic music legend, the Australian artist has been at the vanguard of the progressive scene since the mid-90s with a double century of credits on such esteemed imprints as Sudbeat Music, Afterglow and John Digweed’s Bedrock and a century on his own Vapour Recordings. New Zealander, Karl Pilbrow moved to his adopted Melbourne home in 2012 before a partnership with Kasey Taylor witnessed a score of production credits including 2020’s “Amber Skies” and 2023’s “Fairlight” on Hernan Cattaneo’s Sudbeat. A trio of original releases on Vapour followed, not least in July 2024’s “Sonorous / Alluvium / Inscape”. Now debuting on Meanwhile, the Kasey Taylor & Karl Pilbrow remix of “EXT 135” contains the deep bassline presence of the original while an unrelenting, rapid-fire groove creates a magical tension. Developing sonic intrigue, the melodic progression of the original’s breakdown is found wedded to the driving rhythm in majestic and spine-tingling fashion. Full of bassline intensity, familiar vocal cuts and melodic fragility are the perfect counterweight to the rhythmic heft.

St.Ego returns to One Of A Kind with Mercury Retrograde, a release that perfectly encapsulates his deep musical versatility. The original track is a masterful blend of organic and progressive house, exuding an entrancing atmosphere with lush textures and hypnotic grooves.

The EP also features two distinctive remixes. Nikola Jovanovic brings his signature progressive touch, delivering a powerful rework with driving basslines and a refined groove. On the other hand, Haen takes a bold approach, fusing breakbeat elements with progressive house, creating an unexpected yet captivating sonic journey.

With Mercury Retrograde, St.Ego once again pushes creative boundaries, making this a must-listen release for fans of deep, melodic, and progressive electronic music.

Argentina is a country with a celebrated progressive house heritage. One of the key figures at the inception of the movement was Marcelo Vasami. First hitting the scene in 2005, the Buenos Aires-based artist quickly became one of the genre's most recognizable names, eventually showcasing his music on Sudbeat and Hope Recordings. He continues to be one of his country's most popular DJs, having shared the stage with Hernan Cattaneo, Nick Warren, Guy J and Replug label boss Cid Inc. Having debuted on Replug in 2011, Marcelo now makes a long overdue return with a brand new EP entitled 'A Fantastic Fear Of Everything'.

Original music from Marcelo has been scarce as of late, with his last project (a collaboration with fellow countryman Nicko Izzo) being released well over a year ago on Nick Warren's Hope Recordings. 'A Fantastic Fear Of Everything' couldn't arrive with more anticipation and points to being the Argentine's career best work.  Entrancing soundscapes combined with a sub heavy groove and strong rhythmic elements set the piece in motion. Fading to prominence, a tasteful arp naturally evolves, allowing you to get lost in a sea of cosmic vibrations. Chilling moods resonate at the core of the centrepiece, building slowly with charismatic charm, before a rush of percussion sparks a powerful drop and seductive finale.

Returning once again to his esteemed imprint is Henri Hurtig aka Cid Inc, who provides the lone interpretation of 'A Fantastic Fear Of Everything'. An eventful summer saw the Finnish artist with EPs on Hernan Cattaneo's Sudbeat Music and Replug Records, the latter of which is still enjoying time in Beatport's progressive house chart, now four months after its release. Cid Inc's vivid imagination and uncanny sense of club dynamics brings 'A Fantastic Fear Of Everything' even closer to a peak time dance floor. The ebb and flow of its energy is engaging, as a rolling full bodied groove, redemptive rhythms and avant-garde sci-fi textures unite in perfect harmony for this synth-driven scorcher. Already a highlight in Cid Inc's recent sets across the world, it's now set to be one of the biggest and most sought after progressive house tracks as 2017 winds to a close. 

The companion piece 'Plot' showcases a deeper, darker side of Marcelo's studio repertoire. Quirky, tough and a touch subversive it's an interesting contrast in mood and design. Primed for dance floor destruction, its funked-up progressive attitude is powerful with enticing strokes, buzzing effects and ghostly vocals adding their own melancholic touch. It perfectly completes the release which now sits as Marcelo's most accomplished work to date.
