Bengoa is Stathis Karipidis - a Greek musician, producer, songwriter and DJ based in Athens, Greece. 

His wide ranging taste and multifaceted production skills have resulted in a slew of well received tracks, EPs and remixes since his debut in 2006. 

Featuring here on Steve Bug’s Sublease label, Bengoa treats us to two tracks of sublime deep tech house. 

Lead track Memories, Feelings features the vocal talents of Dean Hewins, set to an irresistible, hypnotic  groove. 




The original is hard to top, but label honcho Steve Bug steps up for a remix, adding the distinctive tightly wound grooves and precision drum programming that we know and love him for. 

The EP also features another original cut - I Need To Move - which features Jenny’s superb vocals, urging us to succumb to the track’s driving tech house vibe.

Cid Inc's Replug Records welcomes Nopi back to the label for his first solo project. Ukrainian artist Nopi brings a surreal beauty to his innovative brand of electronic composition. His colourful synth leads, exotic percussive arrangements and smooth, dancefloor minded grooves have made for a sound that is all his own. Emerging in 2019, Nopi has enjoyed a three-year creative swell, earning the praise of electronic music tastemakers such as Behrouz, Guy J, Lee Burridge, Hernan Cattaneo, Nick Warren, Sebastian Leger and more; while All Day I Dream, Do Not Sit and TRYBESof have served as landing spots for his transcendent sound. Having made his Replug debut in 2020 with a collaborative project alongside progressive music star Dmitry Molosh, Nopi now returns to the trailblazing imprint for his first solo effort entitled ‘Nature In The Home'. 

Continuing to tread the waters between progressive and organic house, Nopi leans closer to the former on first track ‘Nature In The Mountains After Mushrooms'. A dizzying dance floor slam powered by potent kick drums and hyperspace effects. Rather than burst into a whirlwind or electronic symphony, Nopi delivers tension through slow burn repetition, dodging expectations and emphasizing his conceptual charm, painting bucolic scenes of solitude, as hypnagogic effects unveil a semi-conscious dreamland, before the Ukrainian's creative attitude reveals itself during an interlude of colourful synth swagger and mesmerizing progression. 

Beneath the powerful tidal waves of 'Nature In The Mountains After Mushrooms' lies the spellbinding realities of 'Mistake Forest'. Packed to the hilt with drama and emotion, its adventurous spirit is something Nopi relishes in, as he flexes a trance-inducing side of his studio repertoire. A genuine exchange of melody and texture provide the narrative, where themes of introspection and hope get translated by fuzzed out vocal fragments, thought-provoking musicality and machine-gun style grooves. 

Continuing on a similar monochrome are the nostalgic qualities of the collection's final selection 'Capadocia'. Profoundly idyllic, it's a composition that further cements Nopi's elusive vision, as its buoyant beginnings morph into a meditative, consciousness-expanding conversion of musical ideas. Dark rebounding rhythms and rolling basslines set the course for rustic hooks, prismatic effects and metallic arps, which ultimately puts a stamp on this thematic collection from one of progressive music's rising mavericks.

Nōpi - Capadocia [Replug]

We are happy to host Juve once again on our page and this time with - Premiere: Beyond The Struttosphere - Astral Riders (Juve Remix)

Beyond The Struttosphere return to Gouranga in full force, two years
following the release of their lauded debut EP, New Frontier. The title
track of Astral Riders imagines the two cosmonauts burning through
the atmosphere to a soundtrack of chugging metallic guitar stabs,
syncopated arpeggiators and celestial 808 hits, coupled with an
extraterrestrial vocal sample from the 1969 cult biker film, Easy
Rider. The track builds in momentum, before propelling into cloud
nine with a fully tranced-out crescendo. Remix duties are provided
by two maestros of the scene: Mexican dark wave legend Rigopolar
applies his signature formula to the original, stripping it back to its
core components, and bolstering it with cosmic synths, driving
motorik percussion and a Donna Summer style bassline that ramps
up the groove. Israeli house aficionado Juvë delivers a second remix
that draws on elements of deep house and comes loaded with
distorted FX, ethereal pads and reverberating low-end synths that
culminate in a spectacular drop.
The second offering, Canyon Grit, is as gnarly and raw as its name
suggests: this is full throttle dancefloor banger, commanded by a
dynamic resonant chug bassline, reinforced with cutting snares,
driving hi-hats, reverbed guitar loops, and Hendrix-inspired
psychedelic 303 sequences that will leave you gasping for air. The
original is backed by a stellar remix from Tiempo De Maldad, another
Mexican stalwart, whose take cruises through hyperspace in
unfaltering abandon, with kinetic drum workouts and spacey synths
that navigate the tune to its tripped-out conclusion.
The final track, Set Lasers To Stun, comes laden with intoxicating
solo guitar recorded live on a vintage Stratocaster, deployed with
euphoric Rhodes piano, galactic laser zaps, twanging new wave
guitar chords, and the BTS trademark chug bassline. The EP closes
with a remix from Rebolledo, head honcho of Burning Man’s Mayan
Warrior and one half of the legendary PachangaBoys. His
contribution remodels the track into a dark and hypnotic desert trip,
with dusty FX and dreamlike melodic pads that will no doubt teleport
dancefloors into the stratosphere.

The third Realm Of Consciousness compilation on Tale Of Us’ Afterlife Recordings is the label’s most complete statement so far.

The four-vinyl opus opens with Tale Of Us’ now anthemic ‘Nova’, a high-impact and well-loved staple of their sets this year. Agents Of Time continue with the percussive rattle of ‘Paradigm’, before the first released collaboration between luminaries Recondite and Henrik Schwarz shines with understated melody.

Amongst Mind Against’s eerie masterpiece ‘Portal’ and impressive first appearances on Afterlife from Scuba (as SCB) and Steve Rachmad (as Sterac) are ethereal contributions from Fideles, Ovend and Øostil. UK techno veteran Edit Select channels the darker, hypnotic spirit of Afterlife with ‘Phase In’, setting up the sprawling, 14-minute epic from Luigi Tozzi and Antonio Ruscito.

To begin the compilation’s fourth disc, Konstantin Sibold & Kosme’s ‘Cyclone’ lifts the tone, leading into a more introspective sound from Hunter/Game on ‘Changing Weather’. Upcoming German talent Kevin De Vries follows with his infectious cut ‘Mágoa’ and Tone Depth ends the odyssey in mesmerising style with ‘Ibn Sina’.

The full spectrum of Tale Of Us’ Afterlife label is on display here, as they continue to push the envelope with a high-quality and diverse selection of artists.
