After having him on RBR first compilation, we are so excited to share with you Brazilian producer Yabiru. Yuri is a paulista currently growing beats in Itacaré, Bahia, surrounded by nature and oceanic landscapes , which inspire him building sounds with an organic touch and deeply rooted bass. He was also greatly influenced by his parents' records collection, as well as Candomblé music and general Brazilian culture’s rhythmic wealth. Minimal, breaks, downtempo, dubstep and trip hop are his main electronic influences, but what are his limits, really?

For this special release, Yuri made us the beautiful present of an emotions-filled 4-tracks EP, inspired from the loss of a family member and the realization of death. As he went through different stages of grief, he got different inspirations from his ambivalent and changing feelings. Some time afterwards, with a look back on what he is been through, he wanted to recreate musically the slow cure triggered by this life & death shock.

Memento Mori  Yes, we will all eventually die someday. And remembering that fact may be the solution to enjoy life to its fullest. Accepting both darkness and light : that’s what this last beat is about. Lazy synth percussions and gimmicks with a jazzy rolling snare and hihats will tell you that even the dead can dance beautifully. So let’s just grab the Reaper’s hands and start circling around in this new world in which we don’t fear anymore the double edge of Life & Death.

Yuri created for this an anguished sound design, with angry bass synths, a midtempo techno beat and a beautiful mixture of analog and digital dirty noises.

A Pele Death, it first touches you when you loose a close one. A cold slap waking you up from childhood and optimism. We are not immortal, we are just a soul in an ephemeral enveloppe. « A Pele », the skin in portuguese, refers to the body, the piece of meat and flesh you possess and take care of, which will eventually decay, rot and disappear. To illustrate these hard feelings, Yabiru composed a bassy and breaky downtempo work with a deep and mental touch stomped by a strong kick and low percussions. Psychedelic synths will twist your brain while melancholic strings are here to calm the dark energy of the track.

(Curator of the netlabel 'SENSO Psicodelia' and founder of the cultural collective 'Habitatt' promoting art and culture in Brazil, he had the opportunity at Resonar Festival, Tropical Burning Man, Universo Paralelo and many clubs such as D-Edge, Trackers, Clash Club,o CALDO, Orgânu, MOND, Caixa Esquerda, Noise Jumpers and more. A strong experience that led him to manifest his vision in his words:
"SOUND, invisible magical breath, manifests itself filling the gaps in space, inducing each soul to movement."
