TRANSPARENCIES

Frisson is a sound composition based from altered and modified time signatures of sound textures taken from materials such as glass, ice and plastic sheets. Composed of found recordings gathered from various sound online databases, Frisson depicts a non-narrative sonic landscape that conjures a meditative space devoid of clear indications, depictions and representations. Ambiguous by nature, Frisson is inspired from the recent emergence of ASMR formats and tropes of sound landscapes found in cinematic dream sequences or underwater scenarios. Frisson locates us in a space that mediates between the virtual and the real, like the mediations we experience in our daily lives.

With her performance format Human Amplifier, the artist Louise Vind Nielsen invites some participants to act as »speakers«. Via headphones, sounds are transmitted to the human amplifiers, who then pass on what they hear to their environment with their voice or with movements. It’s about how we hear, perceive, process, and communicate, but also about how collective learning, thinking, and producing arise.

The track is composed of three covers of love songs I sang in different moments of the day, directly out of my memory. The air was all the time in my mouth stands for the courage behind expressing different thoughts, actions or naive creative manifestations without the doubt of the quality. Listening and resisting the imperfections of singing and peculiar pronunciation, resisting the ridicule, could place the listener anywhere between boredom and anger. It was initially made for a 30 hours Theme broadcast initiated by Radio Corax, Halle.

RAW [X,Y,0.75] is a subproject of the curatorial art collective RESEARCH AND WAVES. 
The series of record releases aims to establish a showcase between contemporary art and independent music practices with a focus on experimental and conceptual uses of sound.
Each release and the accompanying material is carefully developed in close cooperation with the artist(s) to present the listener with the unique experience of an audible exhibition on vinyl.
