ON AIR: After twelve successful releases on Mama told ya, Anetha paraglides in our skies with the stormful MTY-AIR, a volatile new compilation: 4 swirling vinyls, 20 aerodynamics tracks, 1 wind blowing perfume (TBA). 

Entitled «Mille attaques, les vents contrèrent», it will be the third of a series around the four elements. Capricious yet vigorous, air sweeps out everything on its way. Nothing can save you when you’re in the eye of the cyclone: prepare to fly hard. Alongside our windbreaker artists, skydive into the celestial vastness of sound: Gusts of disturbed techno, squalls of groove, mental tornado, minimal bass hurricane, cloudburst of psytrance… Time to get some fresh air. 

Piercing pampero, mad mistral, forceful cierzo are blowing, blazing khamsin, steady sirocco, sharp shamal, dank nor’wester are entwining… Techno winds from all around the world are joining the fight against humanity. This is « Endgame » (B2). Final chapter, twisters and typhoons are cleansing the surface of earth, overthrowing everything on their path. Poor soul, don’t try to confront air’s blast as it will « Facelift » (D2) the shit out of you in less than a second. Take shelter as air is untouchable, unpredictable, unstoppable. Or if you’re brave enough, you’ll jump into the sky, looking for the currents to carry you up, sailing whirlwinds, riding airwaves, on the road to the « Temples of Quantum » (H2). Now jump!

The artwork has been once again entrusted to visual artist Karin Kimel, who worked on MTY-EAU’s artwork. She delivers an aerial scenery where supernal wafts are swirling, embalming our air. Diplomatie Studio took care of the design, mastering was entrusted to Sixbitdeep. And for the second time, with a direct message from earth to Earth, we opted for recycled vinyls.

SHDW’s label Mutual Rytm rounds out another year with 'Symbiosis' - an excellent split EP from Greek artists ANNĒ & Sera J, featuring six fresh cuts and four digital bonuses.

The release title comes from the Greek word 'συμβίωσις', which means living closely together for a significant period and can be used to speak of a mutually beneficial interaction between individuals. And that is precisely what can be said of ANNĒ and Sera J, who have grown through life as partners and, more recently, as musical peers. This split EP is their first release alongside one another, and one that presents the story of their innermost feelings, with their full label debut following fine contributions to the label's 'Federation Of Rytm II' compilation back in March.

ANNĒ has had a busy few years making her mark with potent techno on labels such as Soma, Hardgroove, and Life In Patterns, while Sera J is just as revered for his tunes on the likes of Out Of Place, DifferentSound and more.

ANNĒ takes the A-side, firstly with the fiery diva vocals and thumping techno drums of 'Heal My Soul' and then the more physical and banging drum programming of 'Turn Back Time'. It's a big, metallic cut with rumbling bass and sleek synths peeling off the groove, while her final track 'Zephyrus' has plenty of infectious bounce and eerie pads to keep dancers on their toes.

On the flip, Sera J kicks off with the electrifying synth stabs and cantering techno power of 'Blue Dancers' and then offers up 'Common People' as twisted leads and slamming drums all run through with alien sound effects and bright stabs. To close, 'Delusion' is a psychedelic cut with roaming leads that bring plenty of cosmic energy to the unrelenting kicks.

In addition, each artist serves up a pair of digital bonuses: ANNĒ with the hurried funk of 'Serene' and loopy intensity of 'Victor', and Sera J with the liquid, dubby dynamics of the hard-hitting 'Intensity' and monstrous energy of 'Bodies Don't Lie.'

Rising French Techno talent Fenrick is quickly becoming one of Europe’s most exciting acts, owing to a slew of captivating releases on the likes of Taapion, NineTimesNine, No Mercy Techno and a never-ending schedule of high-energy club performances. Returning to the fore with another high-quality offering, Fenrick’s distinct style and flow play firmly into a quad of pounding dancefloor-focused cuts, leading you to the dancefloor through roughened, racy grooves and blistering basslines.

In the first of four Psy-tinged peak-time cuts, ‘Return To The Source’ sees Fenrick employ hardened drums, riveting bass tones and a pilling sea of tonal percussive elements brought together by subtle atmospheric pads, glitchy samples and ominous arps. ‘Always Need U’ brings a attitude, a vocal-led stomper with harrowing harmonies and shrieking sonics - subtly tipping the hat to some of Fenrick’s historical breakbeat influence in places.

‘Not Ready 4 U’ blends an impressive display of whimsical musicality with hardened, racy, club-ready Techno flavours. Combining dreamlike bell synths with relentlessly firm beats and a sawing bassline, He manages to carve another unique piece before rounding off the EP with ‘Glitch Tool’. Rifling grooves and bounding low-end pulse pumps through the core of the mix, orbited by glitchy vox loops, subtle tonal injections, and additional layers of movement - all cleverly pulled through a kaleidoscope of different beat structures for a hair-raising finish to the release.
