On RA.944 you'll hear fast, deep and percussive '90s and '00s cuts from Spain, Latin America and his native Italy, with a particular focus on the kind of playful progressive trance minted by the late, great Franchino. "If a record is falling apart at the seams, I'll probably like it." Recorded live at Houghton 2024, our latest Playing Favourites episode sees the London artist discussing the beautiful leftfield music that's soundtracked his life.

British DJ and producer Call Super brings some colour to the depths of winter with this week's RA Exchange. The multifaceted artist has released music on Houndstooth, Hessle Audio, fabric, Dekmantel and the label he co-runs with Parris, can you feel the sun, becoming known for a deep yet always party-ready sound that combines house, UK funky, tech house and plenty more besides.

In this interview, recorded at last year's Houghton Festival, he talks to RA's managing editor, Carlos Hawthorn, as part of our flagship live series, Playing Favourites. Among his choices are the music he listened to as a child; the record that inspired his passion for DJing; an artist who changed his perspective on music at large; and more practical songs he deploys in sets to refresh a crowd. The territory he covers is huge, from tech house and acid house to contemporary classical, experimental leftfield, abstract percussion and choral music. There are some tracks, he claims, that only work in certain contexts, but if played at the right time, "they send people." Listen to the episode in full. – Chloe Lula

Inspired by the new movie - The Force Awakens. This nearly 2hr all vinyl set, samples many well known and some rare early 90's Darkside Jungle Tekno. Not for the faint-hearted, full of Darkcore bangers, peppered with many original Starwars samples.  It took me a while to make and I'm quite proud of it! 

Shout outs to The Jungle Massive Crew - Matto, Dj Speaks (and Gary from Tactical Aspect), Dj Vision & Janie Prickle. A special thanks to Bizzy B - Big Ups and Maximum respect! The set contains at least 4 or 5 of his legendary tunes, especially Murder Style - Original and 2004 remix.

Cassegrain is a duo based in Berlin who operate the techno label, "Arcing Seas." They've also released on other imprints such as Prologue and Function's Infrastructure New York. Both artists have their own solo projects as Magna Pia and Rhyw.

They can be found performing around the world on a regular basis both as DJs and a live act. They are by all accounts, bad asses.

Donato has been DJing in the 1980s, discovering techno and acid, before crafting his own take on dark, hypnotic electronic music. Although he is currently based out of Rome, Donato’s creativity depends on natural surroundings — whether that’s his beach house in San Felice or playing in the mountains at @mindgameslaby Festival in Japan. Donato and I sat down together to talk about nature and sound, a conversation that first started two years ago at @Terraforma Festival, and picked up this summer in Rome.
