Introducing: Hervé (@superons) — with a special two-hour vinyl session for our Nous’klaer Radio series. Sun-drenched, spaced out housey summer vibes. Just the way we like it.

Asked by 3voor12, promoters in the Netherlands named Hervé as one of the biggest talents to surface this year. And with good reason: Hervé oozes with passion for vinyl, playing and digging - but not only behind the decks. He is a driving force in the Amsterdam nightlife, being involved in the label Polychrome Audio, arts & community space Noord Space, and the newly launched club night Interfering Grounds at RAUM and more. 𝗖𝗮𝗻 𝘆𝗼𝘂 𝘁𝗲𝗹𝗹 𝘂𝘀 𝘄𝗵𝗲𝗿𝗲 𝘆𝗼𝘂 𝗮𝗿𝗲 𝗳𝗿𝗼𝗺 𝗮𝗻𝗱 𝘄𝗵𝗮𝘁 𝘆𝗼𝘂 𝗮𝗿𝗲 𝘂𝗽 𝘁𝗼 𝗹𝗮𝘁𝗲𝗹𝘆?
I was born in Côte d'Ivoire and grew up on the African continent. After some studies in France, I moved to the Netherlands for a job in 2016. Music was very present in my upbringing, with one of my brothers being a hip-hop artist. Settling in Amsterdam in 2018 opened new perspectives, as I delved into electronic music and its nightlife. Alongside collecting and playing music, I am involved in a few collective projects, including record label Polychrome Audio, creative network misuse, and arts & community space Noord Space. We are also starting a new club night called Interfering Grounds at Club Raum.

Curiosity has always been my driver. Being open to different perspectives and cultures. I like asking questions and experimenting to build understanding and create new things. Sharing is what keeps me going, with music and life in general.

𝗪𝗵𝗶𝗰𝗵 𝗹𝗼𝗰𝗮𝗹 𝗵𝗲𝗿𝗼 𝘀𝗵𝗼𝘂𝗹𝗱 𝘄𝗲 𝗮𝗹𝗹 𝗸𝗻𝗼𝘄 𝗼𝗿 𝗱𝗼 𝘆𝗼𝘂 𝘄𝗮𝗻𝘁 𝘁𝗼 𝗱𝗼 𝗮 𝘀𝗵𝗼𝘂𝘁-𝗼𝘂𝘁 𝘁𝗼?
If there is an artist who consistently impresses me through his craft, both as a producer and a dj, it is RDS. Part of the De Lichting crew, his commitment to sound, ability to express emotions through it, and deep musical knowledge are inspiring. I highly recommend listening to his catalogue and seeing him play records from his collection, it is very special. Two picks: his E-mutations album released on De Lichting, and his Underwater EP that we released last year on Polychrome Audio.

Playing the Nous'Klaer festival 2025 edition is definitely a bucket-list moment, and I am really excited for it :) There are so many festivals and clubs around the globe that I have yet to discover. I am very sensitive to artistic risk in both the program and design. Horst is also one of them, I remember vividly discovering its unique stages in 2024. Sustain-Release is also a festival that I would love to experience! I keep coming to the festival recordings, they channel a very special energy. It is a dream for me to play in Brazil, I fell in love with this country, where Gop Tun has been curating top-tier events.

Sleep D are a pair of Australian producers and DJ’s who also run the prolific record label Butter Sessions which has become a home to an array of artists including the likes of Jennifer Loveless, Hybrid Man, Ewan Jansen and more.

The label is rooted in underground club music and has been in operation for over ten years and has remained a consistent presence.

The pair themselves make music which sits somewhat between genres drawing upon elements of early trance, acid, downtempo, house and techno. It’s always raw and rugged, at times progressive in places but definitely rooted in clubland.

This mix is a stellar representation of the pairs musical outlook which is broad and fierce. It goes very deep and as such the length reflects the diversity and strength of narrative in the style of sets they tend to perform and play.

This one is a tour de force.

A veritable staple of the Japanese scene and founder of the Protection label, Haruka joins our series with two hours of delightful, liquiform groove recorded live from Kyoto. Expansive yet dialed in with tireless precision, Haruka’s set transitions between eyes-down introspection and buoyant, infectious energy with ease. To witness this level of craft enveloped by such a warm and vibrant aura is an absolute pleasure, and it’s easy to imagine oneself suspended weightless in Haruka’s element. Thank you Haruka!

"There's a lack of continuity for FLINTA* individuals." The Chilean artist talks about trans rights and the launch of her new sex party, ABOV.

What would genuine visibility, safety and solidarity look like for the trans community? This week's interview with Chilean artist Dominga Huidobro (AKA Föllakzoid) explores this topic in depth. Huidobro began her transition eight years ago. By then, Föllakzoid had already put out a number of releases on Sacred Bones. She's since gone on to totally reinvent the psych rock genre, working with hypnotic loops and percussion, and even crossing over into the world of techno with collaborations and remixes from Atom TM and DJ Nobu.

Huidobro opens up about how transitioning changed her artistic identity, and even fed directly into her standout album, V. But it also began to pose problems in her personal life. She was attacked at a queer party in Berlin last September, an incident that reflected an ongoing lack of safety and care for the trans community. Touring as a solo artist, she is still rarely provided safe, pre-arranged transportation to and from venues, and the constant trauma of crossing borders and being left to fend for herself in threatening situations led her to pause her live shows for the rest of this year.

In the meantime, Huidobro has started a FLINTA* party, ABOV, with her partner Ariana Paoletti (AKA Volvox). The two end the conversation with a meditation on what the FLINTA* mission means in 2025. Listen to the episode in full. -Chloe Lula

@gracesands a true icon with this weeks IsBurning mix. one of the founders of the of DiY soundsystem, a Nottingham-based free party collective formed in 1989 and resident from the amazing Adonis queer party in London.  

A 95-minute mix showing what house is, rolling basslines, warm chords and  lovely twists & turns. Time is relative when listening to this mix and makes you want to dance dance dance..

I'm choosing this one mainly - altho it’s a popping house groove from Lukas & Simoncene that I love, almost twisted but the right side of it and getting both mind and body working - is because it features Robert Owens. I know Robert from around the London scene - he’s a lovely man and is still recording and dropping hot shit after starting out back in the 80s. He recently played before me at Panorama Bar and rolled thru to the end. Robert we salute you! This has a nod to Larry Heard's Mr Fingers alias just to ice the cake. VIBE!

This week's mix is by @bian_ca, a DJ based in Rio De Janeiro, a dedicated vinyl collector and resident at Nervosa, one of Rio’s key underground parties! His sets weave the sweat spot between techno and house, and he keeps it timeless and unexpected. 

The 100-minute mix is a journey where the tension stays exactly where it's supposed to be, shifting in genres and moods, and guides you to a grand finale, leaving you mesmerized.

‘’This selection is very special to me, as many of these tracks have been with me for a long time. It includes music from close friends I greatly admire, like Muta’s Poem by Capetini and Black Jesus by Vaskular (feat. Valesuchi). However, the track I’d like to highlight is In Sara, Mencken, Christ and Beethoven There Were Men and Women by Robert Ashley. I still remember hearing it for the first time, and it’s hard to believe it was produced in the ’70s. This was the first time I’ve had the chance to play it in a set, and I fall in love with it all over again every time.’’
