Over the past 8 years or so we have had, along with Theo Parrish, the honour of playing the monthly residencies at a small basement club in Shoreditch, London with an impeccable sound system. After 20 years of operation, it was time to move on and close the doors on a place that has a lot to answer for in shaping modern club culture. To say this space along with the owner Ade’s singular vision was fundamental in our personal musical formation would be a complete understatement. 
 
On the day of their closing, manager Charlotte asked us if we’d put the system through its paces for the last time that the club would be open to the public. We set about packing the anthems from our respective residencies and on the night once the people were through the doors played 2 records in turn for the rest of the dance. We included tracks of our own and of friends that were made with that place in mind. Records like Daphni - Ye Ye and Four Tet - Pinnacles were made to first be played at Kieran’s nights there, and the Floating Points - Vacuum EP was born out of the CD-R night at the club, and its launch party was the trigger for Sam’s monthly residency.
 
We set this recording up just before the start of the night and unfortunately it distorts in places, but we make no apology for how joyfully noisy people get! The vibe in the room this night was typical of the club on any given night and we hope this recording captures just a fraction of the spirit of a Plastic People night.
 
A massive thank you from us to everyone that has come down to the nights over the years and supported our music there. We are truly humbled to have shared the music we love with people at this place, and your energy in turn has influenced the way we make music on an unfathomable scale. We also thank the bosses Charlotte Kepel and Ade Fakile for inviting us to the club and having faith in us over  these years! All the best for the future!

Paul 'Trouble' Anderson - Kiss FM 1992 Mix

Bucharest based producers/ remixers/ DJs, the Gemini Brothers describe 2014 as their "remix year". Tronik Youth, Shindu & Future Bones amongst others on the list of artists getting their trade mark, slo-mo, dirty arpeggiated dark disco mixes. 

2015 is more about original tracks  with releases already  scheduled at least from May to September. We've got an EP on Duncan Grays Tici Taci imprint to look forward to in May, with remixes from Somerville & Wilson as well as a Tici Taci version. Then there's another EP in June on the fantastic Nein Records featuring remixes from In Flagranti, Daniel Kyo (Poker Flat), Lokier and Teniente Castillo. There's also stuff coming on new french label called Mange_Moi and Sheffield based Itchy Pig. Combined with more remixes still to drop, it's looking like we'll be hearing a lot more from Gemini Brothers this year.

If you'd like to catch them live they DJ at the Pre Party & the Nein Records Igloo @ Alfresco Festival in Blackpool - May 23rd & 24th. There's further UK dates in Newcastle & Birmingham in June. As well as gigs lined up Prague, Amsterdam, Berlin, Madrid  or Cordoba.

Up next in the series is a special mix of unreleased (and yet to be heard!) edits from our good friend and LPH boss man, Jacques Renault.  Jacques has pumped out tons of amazing edits/remixes through the years, an impressive LP recently on his own Let's Play House imprint, and with his collection of thousands of disco, house and techno records he has become one of our favorite DJs to see.  We hosted him for a rooftop party in Brooklyn this summer that was super vibey!

We were massive fans of the original and immediately in love with this great remix from fellow Amsterdammers the Pin Up Club.

A mix full of energy and strength. We are presented with a most distinctive and interesting harmony played by the two voices of the synths. The rhythm and pace are a moving mechanism, contagious by its on nature. The influence of the sun, bounded to a masculine feature, leads the mix, crowned by a distorted electric guitar which suspends us in time, as if floating,  with bold and charming sharpness, before the big release that leads to the final crescendo. A crescendo that works its way subtly, so we can’t be fully aware of its advance and comfortably be taken by its driving will.
