Co-founder of San Francisco’s Wicked Sound System, Garth has spent three decades fanning the flames of conscious hell-raising in California.

His sound is a unique fusion of Acid House, Space Disco & Psych Rock.

He has produced more than 60 records mostly on his own labels Grayhound, Wicked and Golden Goose. His remixes include everyone from Strafe, The Units, Tribe Called Quest, Faithless, Perry Farrell, Yabby You & Adam Freeland.

Bringing UK sound system culture to San Francisco in 1991, Wicked’s lawless full moon beach parties ushered in an era of Acid House hysteria that ripped through the west coast and spread into the heartland. In 2016 Time Out NY placed Garth and Wicked crew in the Top 10 Best House DJs Of All Time alongside Frankie Knuckles, Ron Hardy and Tony Humphries.  

He stays true to the original art form playing all vinyl sets at clubs and festivals around the world.

wo Brazilian artists, Tabbi (from São Paulo) and Leca (from Florianópolis), met in New York, thousands of miles from home, yet instantly recognized something familiar — the pulse of Brazilian soul beating in their hearts. Coming from opposite ends of the country, each carried her own accent, memories, and unique cultural repertoire.

What began as a simple musical exchange soon became something greater: the start of a true friendship and an artistic partnership that now binds us forever.

During the creation of Tom da Raiz, we realized we were composing more than just a song. We were weaving our stories together, translating into sounds and words what it means to be a woman, an artist, and a Brazilian living far from Brazil. This track is an intimate manifesto about belonging, the courage to follow one’s own path, and the resilience needed to keep the essence alive despite distance and challenges.

The vocal-poem, written in Portuguese, speaks of resistance, strength, and courage — an open letter to all women who, like us, hold on to their dreams and identities, even when the world seems to demand they bend:

- Nem tudo se pede, nem tudo se força
- O rio não apressa o encontro com o mar
- O vento não empurra o que já sabe voar…

Each verse is a reminder that there is strength in silence, beauty in waiting, and freedom in staying true to yourself. It’s about finding balance between longing and freedom, between memory and future.

The name Tom da Raiz is a tribute to what shapes and sustains us. It represents our origins, our stories, and the pride of being who we are. It’s the echo of our roots resonating, even oceans away, reminding us that everything essential remains.

Up next on the DHA mixtape series is Edinburgh-based Achim Brandenburg aka Prosumer. Originally from Saarbruecken, he’s a highly respectable artist who has a passion for house music, smoothly produces records on the occasion, and enjoys sharing the music he loves.

While deriving his name from Alvin Toffler’s techno sci-fi-bible The Third Wave (producing and consuming at the same time), Prosumer lives up to his name. Creating an album with Murat Tepeli and collaborating with artists such as Tama Sumo, Prosumer has put his name on labels like Frankfurt’s Playhouse, Running Back and Swayzak’s 240 Volts. 

On top of having more than a decade of Hard-Wax-enculturation on the clock, he’s spent countless nights in clubs, days digging for records and years refining his art, all while becoming in line with the electronic-music triad in America – Detroit, Chicago and New York.

Prosumer oscillates between the outputs of these great cities. This holds true for his productions, which are riddled with historical references and vertexes, yet they never feel to be out of time or place.

BIS Radio Show #1034 with Tim Sweeney

BSS (fka @beesmunt-soundsystem) is Amsterdam born and bred artist, DJ and producer Luigi Vittorio Jansen. Over the last decade plus, formerly as a duo but now a solo concern, BSS established a sound with residencies at key Amsterdam clubs and radio stations plus the Opium Club in Vilnius, and with releases on the likes of Hivern Discs and Honey Soundsystem. The music is always about musical adventure so spans a wide remit from lush downtempo weirdness to tropical electronics via proto house grooves. 
 
The warmth and sensuality of the BSS sounds runs right the way through this week's mix. It slowly builds through ever more expansive synths and long legged drums to wake you from your post weekend slumber. It remains charmingly deep and hypnotic, with sinewy pads, frazzled synths and soft acid motifs all bleeding in and out of the mix to add detail to the trip. It's as mindful as it is subtly physical and leaves you feeling ready for action.
