An extended mix from Rrose to celebrate our entry into 2023 and the upcoming release of TULIP SPACE [EAUX1591] available for pre-order now at https://eaux.ro/album/tulip-space and the upcoming full-length album PLEASE TOUCH (full announcement in Spring). The mix contains tracks from both releases.

This is a studio mix, started with an initial live take and then combed over meticulously with automated filters, eq, and fx. This is the same setup I use to play out, minus the automation. There is rarely a point when only one track is playing. I always try to find mixes that feel like a new track emerges from the combination. I imagine the optimal listening environment to be eyes-closed with headphones on, but I also hope you will feel an irresistible urge to move at some points ;)

Excited to share with you my very first set of 2024, recorded live at Ratherlost party at LoFi, Amsterdam on January 1st, 2024. 
It was truly one of the best NY shows I've ever been a part of. The club was completely packed and on fire as I took over the decks following Quelza & Nørbak’s incredible B2B set. My aim was to keep this massive momentum going while leading the floor on a journey to get lost in the music. Hope you can feel this mood and energy from the recording.

A surefire provider of deep, complex weapons for the dance floor and beyond, French-born, Berlin-based artist Kangding Ray has been minting some of the most strikingly unique techno records in recent memory. A true legend and pioneering figure of techno, US sound architect and Geophone label owner Mike Parker breaks in on the RYC waves with a very special set full with his idiosyncratically dark, obsessive, inch-perfectly chiselled 4x4 wares. Before Boiler Room and co. were even a thing, a pioneering platform going by the name of Studio R° used to broadcast techno sets by prominent artists from a secret location in Berlin. This iconic, vinyl-only mix is Parker’s Studio R° set from 2013, now fully remastered for your listening pleasure. Building atmospheres unlike any other, brooding and transcending in equal measure, Parker has laid the foundation to an exceptionally rich body of work. Master of the industrial vocab, peeping towards Detroit but with his defining spin on the early days genre, Parker entices us down the path of steely monumentality and laser-precise mind control. Just as typically mazy, his present mix conjures up all traits of quality Parker material: 909-powered propulsion, enslaving acid whorls, Escher-like fractals. Wild, wild ride ahead.

Sounds From NoWhere welcomes aboard the Greek dj & producer ANFS  (Vanila // Modal Analysis).

ANFS is an electronic music producer and DJ based in Athens, Greece. 
From an early age, he engaged in various musical projects, eventually gravitating towards electronic music, experimental electronics, and unconventional sounds during his studies in sound design. 
In 2012, alongside friends Kondaktor and 3.14, he co-founded the record label Modal Analysis, aiming to document and promote Greece's burgeoning electronic scene. 
Expanding his curatorial endeavors, he launched his personal imprint, Vanila, in 2015, further solidifying his influence in the electronic music landscape.

ANFS's discography showcases his evolution as an artist. 
His early work includes the Ground EP (2014) on Modal Analysis, characterized by its rhythmic intensity and incorporation of early 20th-century Greek folk elements. 
He continued to explore dark, industrial soundscapes with releases like Mass (2017) and The Age of Ephemeral Man (2018). 
In 2019, he released Havouza, further refining his signature blend of distorted textures and complex rhythms.
In 2021, ANFS unveiled #011 on Vanila Records, demonstrating a matured sound that seamlessly fuses experimental electronics with dancefloor sensibilities. 
The following year, he released the Seperator EP (2022), a six-track project that delves into experimental industrial noise, featuring tracks like "Klepsimo" and "Piperi," which highlight his ability to blend traditional motifs with contemporary electronic production.
Beyond his solo work, ANFS has contributed remixes for various artists and participated in compilations, such as his track "Amete" featured on the V/A release by Analogue. 
His collaborations and remixes underscore his versatility and commitment to pushing the boundaries of electronic music.
Through his innovative productions and dedication to fostering the Greek electronic music community, ANFS continues to be a pivotal figure in the experimental and industrial techno scenes.

We are glad to propose his kindly given set recorded on July 12th @ Astron Club in Athens.

Reka Zalan is a Berlin based DJ, who is deeply embedded in the DNA of Berlin's landscape - as a Tresor resident since 2023, a Hard Wax staffer and a member of the Coppi collective. She has laid down her powerful and psychedelic grooves at legendary institutions like Berghain, Vault Sessions, Fusion Festival, Ankali and more.  

The mix dives into the depths of atmospheric, cavernous techno before propelling into the expanse of hyperspace as it builds with speed and intensity. A consistent thread of dense psychedelia is seamlessly woven throughout the entire session - an odyssey for those deep cerebral synapses. American Phase Fatale is one of the residents responsible for defining the current Berghain sound. As well as regular DJ sets in the Berlin techno dungeon, his latest album, 'Scanning Backwards' — which was released on in-house label Ostgut Ton last month — was made with the cavernous club in mind. Just like his arresting DJ sets take influence from post punk, EBM and industrial, the album also looks outside techno's usual borders: snippets of speech, "brain-penetrating instrumentation" and plenty of raw textures all inform its grooves and make for a hugely visceral listen.

On this week's mix, he serves up an uncompromising set of angular rhythms, doom laden synths and fizzing techno that is perfect for the darkest dance floors out there. Importantly, there are still nuances along the way despite the pumping machismo of it all. They keep you on the edge of your seat as the dystopian drama unfolds and all consuming bleakness draws you ever deeper into a world devoid of human life forms. It's beautiful brutality from start to finish.
