His sound is diverse, never letting himself be categorized in a specific genre. Whether it’s Deep House, to Disco or Electro, Basanov has a talent for making it sound unique and, most of all, very danceable. He hooked us up with a fresh mixtape so we can show you exactly what we mean. 

He’ll drop by in Amsterdam for the Needwant Records ADE Special @ BARKODE, where he will be the icing on the cake, on an already amazing line-up, featuring Ejeca, The Mekanism, Jay West and Locals like Prunk and PONY among others. Marina Rubinstein loves to DJ, but even when she’s perched in the booth, weaving together a invigorating assortment of hypnotic acid, ’90s rave and pumping techno, her mind is on the dancefloor. After all, it was on dancefloor that this Russian-born, Israeli-reared artist fell in love with techno in the first place. Long before she started playing records and adopted the Dr. Rubinstein moniker, she was a self-declared “true raver” in Tel Aviv, and it was during those long nights of partying that she eventually came to see dancing as a kind of meditation. “When the music is right,” she explains, “you can free your mind and just dance without thinking of anything. For me, it’s the best feeling in life, something that brings absolute happiness.”

Dr. Rubinstein @ The Lot Radio 05 - 19 - 2019

Today we’re all super hyped for for Lente Kabinet this weekend so to get us even more excited we’ve got Job Jobse making his entry to the series. He will play a closing set at the festival and as resident at De School is a master for serving up the perfect record at the perfect time. Initially a slow burner, he’s long been loved by Amsterdam locals for his richly melodic take on house, techno, Italo and disco, and himself is happy to call it trance. 

It’s certainly a spell being and emotional style that characterises his work here. With something of an old school slant, there are stiff vocal cuts and robotic grooves that slowly loosen up and turn to more hands in the air and zoned out fair before getting more sci-fi and occult later on. As ever with Jobse, it’s feel good and fun without being obvious.
