"This mix was recorded in July 2021 at an indoor club in Omotesando, when lockdown was briefly loosen and was allowed to party at night little bit (maybe for about 2 weeks). It’s an excerpt of that all nighter set I have played, everyone wearing mask so was not able to see their faces but seemingly people were having a good time."

I met Oren whilst playing on Skylab Radio as he has been helping out behind the scenes there. Beyond that he's been playing at various spots throughout the city, showing off a beautiful diversity of taste and impeccable dh'ing style.

This mix is a lovely blend of local sounds & abroad. A lighthearted, warm blend of house, techy notes, rolling percussion & more.

For @eliasmazian, music is a time capsule - a form of transport to somewhere safe and secluded away from every day worries. It is a way for the Dutchman with Moroccan roots to express his deepest emotions and connect the music of his childhood with contemporary sounds from around the world. He showcased this with us at Dekmantel Connects back in 2021 and always in the music he makes. 

He crafts a moody and atmospheric start to this week's podcast with melancholic melody over languid beats. There's then a slow shift to the dance floor before party-starting house jacks your body with plenty of hands-in-the-air pianos and ever more pumping basslines. It's a high-energy selection that wears its heart proudly on its sleeve.

Marco Weibel is the epitome of modesty. Over the past decade, the New York artist has quietly amassed a loyal following through expansive DJ sets that touch on everything from spiritual jazz to disco, but rather than credit himself, he lets the tunes speak for themselves. This humble attitude has won him the respect of veterans such as Lefto, as well as a growing fanbase from all corners of the musical spectrum.

When he's not DJing, Weibel curates nights at various New York venues and co-runs Darker Than Wax, a label based out of Singapore (where he was born and raised). His selections showcase rhythm and texture over drops, but he always has an arsenal of radiant house cuts or UK garage to fire up a crowd. Cavernous crates aside, the cadence of his sets is perhaps their most distinguishing feature. On his weekly shows at Lot Radio, Hawaiian funk is followed by broken beat while at the club, 2-step spills into dembow techno and rich amapiano.

While his mixes and performances usually start out on the melodic side, his RA Podcast switches things up. Unleashing a whirlwind of jungle before moving onto '90s-flavored house and other loopy styles, his session highlights local talents with plenty of delightful transitions throughout. Peter Brown's spacey soul flows into Aquarian's pulverising breaks, Ayesha's percussive techno precedes heart-tugging house and heavy dub morphs into Kerri Chandler's acid. Fluid and rolling, this is a true digger's delight.

This month’s show features DJ and producer @juan-atkins, also known as Model 500 or Infiniti, and the music of his fabled label Metroplex. 

Launched in 1985, Metroplex opened with the Model 500 EP "No UFOs." The global demand for his new sound provided Atkins with an outlet for a string of iconic releases. 40 years on, he remains deeply committed to pushing the boundaries of sonic exploration.

For Carhartt WIP Radio, Juan Atkins has created a Metroplex anniversary mix that underlines the label’s innovative style, with tracks by himself, as well as his daughter Milan Ariel, and producers like Robert Hood.
